Oh my! You both went through a lot at the same time! I can't believe you were able to drive in your condition! I was afraid when you first described your symptoms, that it was going to be a heart problem!
I didn't know what "IM" meant in "when the nurse gave him his IM needle of cortisone," and I didn't know what a " laminectomy" is.
Do you still need to take extra care of your neck?

Awww thank you Helen for both reviewing and being concerned. Let's see an IM is an injection done intramuscular such as a flu shot. A laminectomy means surgery done on the spine, Jim had a lumbar laminectomy which means his lower back and I had years ago a cervical laminectomy which means neck. No I do not need to take extra care, for now it is just a touch of arthritis that flares up once in a while, one day I may need a second surgery but until that day comes I will be okey dokey. Thanks for caring.

These things are bad enough when you're in a permanent home where you have all your regular doctors, but on the road in horrible weather conditions? Must have seemed like a nightmare. Glad you're improving. Still having fun? Or thinking of giving up traveling after Florida? If I were you, I'd stay out of the South during summer. Head North, farrr North! :)

Thank you Phyllis. We are both surviving and still enjoying our adventures. Unfortunately we are in Georgia and will be there for a while. No farrrrr north for us right now.

Hi, Allie. It sure has been a long time between posts, huh? I envy you two moving around the country as you do, but when things like your neck flare up occur it has to be hard on both of you, I'll bet.

I wonder if bumpy roads can do that kind of damage. It would explain why my neck got worse when using my rollator over cracked sidewalks and roads.
I remember when my Mom was in the hospital and fell out of bed. She split her lip too and went to emergency for stitches. She looked really scary like Frankenstein's creation.

Ah, sweet Alie, whats the saying 'things come in three's? Well as I sit here Sat 8th I have something of a grin for Jim and the Cortisone. Raymond, has had the main sitting on Medical mishaps. But the Cortisone got a grin. Raymond so far this year has had the ultra-sound guided injections of Cort. twice in the neck (one on each side,) one in front right foot one under the foot, one each side on his back. He has a table with enough jars bottles potions to start a Apothecary (Chemist) shop. I don't know what your rules are over there, but... Once Seniors we (combined) reach 67 paid scrips we then get 97 percent of chemist stuff free. For the remainder of the year. Also we are sent to University Hospitals and treated/admitted free. Of course there is Medicare for the wealthy ones, but in all honesty there is no difference in Doctors or treatment. And our Ambulance are totally free. The same as the Air Ambulance Service. Also we can change Doctors as many times as we like. Write some more, dear Alie. luv u Anne.

Wow, a totally different set up there than here. I would say poor Raymond but if the cortisone is working and doing something good for him, then great. Here it is Medicare and private insurance for seniors over 65 and I agree that its the same doctor or hospital doing the same thing. Some facilities do not appreciate Medicare patients. We don't get anything for free but there are reduced charges. Both of you take care and be well. Luv u
