This unfortunately was the way the crown passed from one to another in years gone by and now a more subtle approach is used but the same sharp painful sword still rules, a poignant write, love Dolly x

Sounds as if you fulfilled the poem prompt - I didn't try that one. But your poem came out fine. And it told a story as well. Seemed very smooth and structured. Good job.

An interesting Fantasy story you have here. It tells a story about power, leader ship and a need to do what you feel is right. It was a fun read and a fun fantasy. I wish you well.

You've written an excellent Ottawa Rima true to the form
with excellent rhymes and meter.
A solid fantasy story in only eight lines.
Perfect picture to match the poem
Well done
Good luck in the contest

Well done. This is a tight, well-crafted poem. The rhythm nicely propels the story forward. Finally it is a compact story that is told well. I can't think of any suggestions.

Thank you for the fantastic review and the big sixer, James. I like to try to tell whole stories in a few lines as possible. It gives my brain more of workout. Lol. I really appreciate the generous rating, friend. I'm glad you liked my little tale. Have a great weekend. Thank you again.
Comment from Sandra du Plessis
A very well-written Ottawa Rhima about the rightful heir born from the King's mistress. The bastard child built her own dynasty and kill the king before his rightful heir.

I always study the pic that's included with a post before I read anything. This was a stunning picture. That and the title "Rightful Heir" goes far to wet the appetite. Your poem tells a great story in limited space. Nearly impossible to do. These three elements of this post warrant top rating. A+ on a difficult assignment. Trifecta win for you today. Just beautiful. Good luck to you. Lynda

Wow, thank you so much for the fantastic review and the big sixer, Lynda. I only wish this site would let us see the pictures as they are when we find them. This little picture doesn't do it justice. It's actually a lot bigger and I had to crop off the edges just to make it slightly large enough to see the few details you can. It's a fantastic piece of art when viewed in its original size. But what can you do? Take what we can get, I guess. I dearly appreciate the gracious rating, Lynda. I'm glad you liked my little offering. Have a great day. Thank you again.

It's the least I can do. Well... maybe not.

This speaks the story of losing everything, family and kingdom under the conspiracy, before the rightful heir; well said, well done. Write to inspire, change -- DR ALCREATOR

Powerful writing that has happened throughout history when a child decides to rebel against her own father and in this case kill him to take the crown. Thanks for sharing this story within a short poem. Bill
