This is excellent, Christine, and congratulations for winning the contest. I can identify with this piece. Losing someone special is difficult. Great job. Marilyn

A perfect, aching job on this haunting tableau. I hope it's an imaginary one, but it seems so real that my Little Voice tells me it is not. Good luck in the contest. This is a standout. xo

You're right, Christine; the competition was very stiff!! I love it when that happens. Then the victory is immense!

A very well-written widow's tableau. There is nothing that can make us feel more lonely when we stand at the grave of our loved one and know we will never see him/her again.

Sad cry - and good poem. Nicely done. The picture is such a good addition to the poem. Wish I'd tried this form - didn't quite understand how to do it. It is a terrific loss when a mate is taken.

Your poem captures the essence of grief here: the tear, the broken heart, the loneliness. Putting the rhyme in adds the extra skill to make an excellent presentation.

It is so easy to VISUALIZE this widow standing by her husband's grave speaking to him through tears. His death isn't recent, yet the heartache never ends. Your tableau truly evokes sympathy for her. Rod

Hi Rod Really appreciate your lovely comments for my tableau I tried to create the image without an image bit one then needs to add one and ai thought this reflected the words.

I find the instructions confusing; each line having six lines?
Good illustration to confirm the grieving widow beside the grave. Tis a sad poem, still, we all come to this point when we bury a loved one. Well done and best wishes for the contest.

Hi Aussie Thanks for your review and I think they meant each verse has six lines rather than each line. I also took it to mean only one verse for this contest . Thanks for your best also we shall see !

These are sad words and being widowed myself I can identify with them. Tears of sorrow are shed often as we never forget and being alone is something I have come to terms with, heartfelt words here, love Dolly x
