What a vivid artwork! We have had several of these uncharacteristic storms in Southern California lately--climate change? Congratulations on winning the contest with your descriptive, rhythmic and rhymed quatrains. Your "grim-faced troops" and "angry hornets" similes are unforgettable. Cheers- Joan

The photo is a great match as it sets the ominous sense we've all experience when a strong storm moves in. Even without the photo, this or a similar image emerges due to the strong description -- the words capture the mood of an impending, potentially destructive storm.

The imagery was superb as you brought me with you on your stormy journey. The rhythm of the piece flowed well and reminded me of a time on the beach during a wind storm. Well done.

It brings to mind how individuals stranded at Sleeping Bear Sand Dunes - which overlooks Lake Michigan - must have felt on August 2015 when a "straight line storm event" suddenly thrust itself upon northern Michigan. Its devastation was unbelievable...
