Wow!! What a lovely review! Thank you for all this encouragement!
Comment from Debra White
How rude!!!
It's true though, it's like there's no filter and everything that's in their heads just comes out of their mouths, no matter how insensitive or insulting.
I love your poem though...it made me laugh- not at your expense I hasten to add, but because noodle and doodle are such fun rhymes!
Good luck in the voting booth. Best wishes, Debra :)

I didn't mind what she said. It actually gave me a good laugh in the day. Plus I reminded myself that someday I'll be old enough to say whatever comes into MY noodle, too!! It's one of the best perks of being old; people give you passes for whatever you say!!!
Comment from Irish Rain
This would certainly get my vote!!
Just delightful!
I love the expression...'whatever
comes into your noodle'...too cute!
Love the picture too!

I don't blame you, Hitcher. The plucky ones are where you'll find the most fun! Thanks for the delightful review.

You have to tip your hat to them! I love it when this happens.
It reminds me of a favourite poem - I'm sure you've heard it.
When I am an old woman I shall wear purple
With a red hat which doesn't go, and doesn't suit me.
And I shall spend my pension on brandy and summer gloves
And satin sandals, and say we've no money for butter.
I shall sit down on the pavement when I'm tired
And gobble up samples in shops and press alarm bells
And run my stick along the public railings
And make up for the sobriety of my youth.
I shall go out in my slippers in the rain
And pick flowers in other people's gardens
And learn to spit.
You can wear terrible shirts and grow more fat
And eat three pounds of sausages at a go
Or only bread and pickle for a week
And hoard pens and pencils and beermats and things in boxes.
But now we must have clothes that keep us dry
And pay our rent and not swear in the street
And set a good example for the children.
We must have friends to dinner and read the papers.
But maybe I ought to practise a little now?
So people who know me are not too shocked and surprised
When suddenly I am old, and start to wear purple.

I remember it well! A friend of mine bestowed the entire book when I was very young! Thanks for this fun reminder!

You're right. It does seem that when we get to be a certain age, we don't have to as far as society is concerned conform to a certain etiquette. I like the message of this ad enjoyed reading this well written work. Well done!

I'm looking forward to that kind of freedom, Jeffrey. How about you?!
Comment from Willie P. Smith
Excellent and humorous post. If you live to a ripe old age, you have pretty
much earned the right to speak your mind. Looks like this old lady is taking advantage of that. I really enjoyed your contribution to the contest.

This is so cute. I really like it. I'm in my late sixties, which SOME people consider elderly!! I have a tendency to say things I wouldn't have said years ago. I'm working on holding my tongue.

This was a replica of an earlier review. I wonder if you're having computer glitches today.

Cute poem, terrific use of contest word requirement for 'old lady.'
Your selected illustration is reinforced with your 'plumed hat'. Rhyming is spot on.
Especially like your ending twist.
This will get votes in the writing prompt contest IMHO.
