Very good information in this piece. I agree completely that our world is in terrible shape. The future for our children and grandchildren is not good. I truly believe we are in the last days. I would never guess how many years that is since in God's word he say a day is as a thousand years and a thousand years as a day. The world is in big trouble already I believe. Thanks for sharing and God bless.

I am absolutely speechless after reading this awesome and beautifully written post about the damage we have done to 'Mother Earth.' I often wonder if we are too late and that the damage done is impossible to correct. This is a superb post and I am so pleased I still have a 6 left to give you for it. It is beautifully written and your words brought tears to my eyes. Thank you so much for sharing this gem with us.

Too many greedy politicians that are only concerned with lining their own pockets exist, and too many fat corporations who don't care about anything but profits have been allowed to do whatever they want as long as they pass over a few bucks here and there for the planet to be treated properly. I'd like to know where in hell they think they are going to be able to spend all that money when the sun consumes the earth! Great write!

My dearest Dawn,

I do not have a six... but I stand proudly beside you.

May I suggest you read Rachel Carson's 'Silent Spring'? Or Aldo Leopoldo.. A Sans County Almanac? Please do so. Though these two authors and conservationists wrote their books in the 20 century, early 1900, they speak of extinction and man's carelessness and greed partnered with apathy.

Thank you for your strong voice.

Jimi

I guess I've learnt to be "holistic" in my view. We can't really compare animals to humans, humans can make rational decisions but animals cannot, young children also just are, they are not capable (generally speaking) of being deliberately sinful, adults can decide to be "innocent" or trusting of God or not. (Be as wise as a serpent, but as gentle as a dove," Matthew 10:16. It's always been about man's sin, God has seen the end, it won't change, individually yes, but not collectively, but well done, but don't worry, God doesn't expect us to carry the world on our shoulders, He's taken care of that. Well done,

Your call to activism struck a chord with me. The evidence has been before us for decades. I'm not sure how old you are, but given your interests you have possibly heard of the book "Silent Spring" by Rachel Carson. My mother gave it to me to read in the mid '60s and it was very influential on my ethical formation (Mum was good at that... pointing me in directions of concern). We writers have a moral duty, I think, as we can express things for people to understand. Your article here is a prime example. But of course, some people will never listen, just to the sound of cash registers.

I have just written a poem about the bleaching and destruction of coral reefs. It still needs to be polished but I will be posting it sometime.

I copied the following from the Internet:
"Silent Spring is an environmental science book by Rachel Carson. The book was published on September 27, 1962, documenting the adverse environmental effects caused by the indiscriminate use of pesticides. Carson accused the chemical industry of spreading disinformation, and public officials of accepting the industry's marketing claims unquestioningly. Starting in the late 1950s, prior to the book's publication, Carson had focused her attention on environmental conservation, especially environmental problems that she believed were caused by synthetic pesticides. The result of her research was Silent Spring, which brought environmental concerns to the American public. The book was met with fierce opposition by chemical companies, but, owing to public opinion, it brought about numerous changes. It spurred a reversal in the United States' national pesticide policy, led to a nationwide ban on DDT for agricultural uses, and helped to inspire an environmental movement that led to the creation of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. In 2006, Silent Spring was named one of the 25 greatest science books of all time by the editors of Discover magazine."

I read that bottled water allows 100 times more fecal matter than tap water. Yet, people pay big money for bottle water. Thanks for sharing this information.
