Thanks for asking, my wife just sleeps when I talk about me.

This is a very entertaining contest entry and a very enjoyable read. Good flow within the poem. Loved the humor and thoughts expressed by the author. You met the rhyme requirements and subject matter.
An excellent contest entry ... best wishes!

Thanks for your wonderful review. I loved this prompt's demands. Short rhyming poem, but long enough to tell a story. That it made you smile or laugh is the win for me. Happy Mother's Day.

Excellent self description.. Many men wouldn't want their wife to describe them. That's a shaky limb to be on. You have good rhyme and this is very understandable. Very good contest entry.

Thank you, fellow sailor, for a nice review and note. We also share a belief that poems should rhyme! I loved this prompt's demands. Short rhyming poem, but long enough to tell a story. If it made you smile or laugh it's the win for me. Enjoy your Mother's Day - I have four to serve: one wife, three daughters.

A very well put together poem about yourself. If I had to guess I'd say you are under playing who you really are. You have a lot more talent than you let on.

You are very kind. You and my wife would have hours of fun debating the subject. Thank you for a very nice review. I shall try to live up to it, but I will likely fail...

I am sorry for your loss. I assume you and your man had many years of happiness and adventure together or my poem would have meant nothing to you. If I touched your heart and brought back good memories, then my poem is a winner no matter what. FYI, I am a man of the South who has been married to a Yankee for 42 years. I believe in marriage and love. Thanks for letting me know you do too.

This was a sweet and touching couplet rhyme scheme that I really enjoyed. I think whether I know you or not it describes a good person that I want to know. Someone that doesn't think too highly of themselves and also anyone that scratches a lot of ears is a friend in my book. Looking back and wanting to do better anyone who doesn't then they really have problems in their heads. If you don't want to improve upon yourself then you really don't have any foot in reality. So kudos to a beautiful entry for this interesting topic and contest. I will be looking for it when I cast my vote. Cheers, Fonda

Anyone who tells me that my poem "was a sweet and touching couplet rhyme scheme that I really enjoyed" makes my day and makes me happy! I read your review to my wife. She thinks I wrote it. She is a hard case. Oh, and don't worry; she reviews my list of self-improvement goals for me every day. Your promised vote is appreciated, but your review is special. God Bless!

Well, tell your wife my name is Fonda and that you couldn't have made that up. Tell her I say that is like Peter, Bridgett, Jane or Henry whichever one you like the best! I think then she might cut you some slack! It isn't a promise it is a fact! Cheers, Fonda

Not Jane. My wife will suggest that I return to "9-to-5". I like retirement...
Thanks again. Fun to hear from you. God Bless!

My eyes are open but my mind is asleep. Yet, that is all one asks of a man. To be able to stand and scratch the babies that roam the land is cool cause them critters put up a fuss. :) It's alright if you party with friends and share your thoughts and heart. That is the making of a man. This is a good entry for the Rhyme about yourself contest.

Full disclosure: Where I live, there's lots of critters out there you don't want to scratch! But, "dogs and cats" just didn't fit the meter requirements. Glad you liked my entry. Thanks for droppin' by, neighbor!

I didn't go to sleep, I read right down to the small print and, like you, I insist on life being fun. You sound like a good bloke: love critters, had a job, stayed sober (mostly), you share. You also write enjoyable poetry, for being just a man.

Ah, dear LisaMay, you are always as kind to me as was my beloved Akaroa, that lovely French settlement just south of Christchurch. It was a favorite haunt of mine back in the days when I visited New Zealand on business. In my next life, perhaps I will be allowed to live there and I shall look you up for tea - and perhaps a round of golf at one of the most beautiful courses I have ever played, Akaroa. Thank you!
