I enjoyed your post. It certainly fit the requirement. Last Memorial Day, the Priest at my church asked all veterans to stand. I stood, and a few others, but not many. Fewer and fewer it seems. Bill

Well, my opinion differs a little from what you expressed in your author notes. I thought the rhymes were excellent and yes, the meter is not consistent, but the theme and the words are such that the reader doesn't really care. I think you did a great job of expressing what you feel in your heart, and that's what matters. Good luck in the contest. This fits the prompt perfectly.

This is so very, very good. I truly love how you went down the line giving short histories of the different wars. This is a beautiful tribute to all that have served and died protecting our freedom and country. It is also a great reminder of why we celebrate Memorial Day.

Stand and salute, render deserved honor and respect to our fallen sons and daughters. We mourn their memories and respect their supreme sacrifices. It is a shame that so many of our brightest have fallen at the feet of other young men who are taught to hate us.

Brings one's attention to the endless stream of wars and "actions" that
nations of the world can not seem to avoid. And yet...if Hitler had let his military minds instead of his political hack pals guide him, what would have been the result? Excellent post for that prompt.

This is a good poetic history of the wars of the 20th and 21st centuries. You are right that none should be forgotten. We should remember them on more than just Memorial and Veteran's Day. We need to respect and honor the dead and the vets of war. We should learn how to live less violently.
