Absolutely brilliantly creative and completely original ... as I read my eyes began to mist, and finally, felt a happy tear roll down my rugged cheek.
Such is the power of a master poetess' skill.

Yvonne,
It is obvious why this piece won.
I thank you most warmly and sincerely for opening your heart through your pen! ~ Richard : )

Thank you for your wonderful comments here, Sir Richard -- this win was a surprise to me, so it's so good to hear that you enjoyed it so much.... oh, but I wouldn't wish a tear on your cheek! :) :) So glad it warmed your heart, though -- makes me smile! ;) Thank you for those lovely stars and the accolades they represent -- you have over-whelmed me today!! :) Take care over there, Sir! :) Yvette

It is a sad truth how much is missed when we lose something that is dear to us. What you wrote is short and sweet. Very nice picture and perfect fit with what you wrote.

Thanx so much for dropping in for the review on this one -- I'm so very glad you enjoyed Marianne and Bob -- they are certainly one of those couples that an author can almost feel as they write about them! I actually got the idea when two of my students (different grades/different classes) showed up with the same new glasses -- funny the different avenues down which an author's mind travels given certain stimulus, yeah? ;) ;)
**My apologies for being so tardy in my reply! I actually managed to post but not much of anything else this week! :( Final exams dominated life (taking some time with tea this morning before ?life? takes over again) and the weekend of ?moving sons? is not finished ? all my grades are in, though - hooray!! :) :) LOL! Take good care and have a great Sunday! ;) Yvette

I love how clear and succinct your storytelling is. You use so many elements, yet your words are clean and intriguing. Also, the photo goes very well with the poem. I would love to hear about your technique to improve my own writing. Thank you!

Thanx so much for your wonderful review, Shenetta -- so glad you could drop in on Marianne and Bob! :) ;) So, far as technique, Beautiful Lady, I know not what to tell you....I am not formally trained as a writer and I simply write what is in my heart and head at the time....know that's no help, but I do thank you for your compliments!! :) ;) **My apologies for being so tardy in my reply! I felt compelled to check it out; I'm pleased I did.
You have written a heartfelt, pleasant story in

This short story shows a truth of growing old. One's sight does get worse as you age. This is a funny story with a happy ending. Congrats on placing first in the contest.

Keep writing

Joan

So precious. . .the golden years that are not so golden. This couple is a rarity just because you can tell, they've been married a very long time and they laugh about silly things that don't even matter. Love that this piece received first place, congrats on this win! :)
