This is such a moving story that gives insight into children's minds so vividly, not just that the boy's dream later came true, but also his sisters understanding of his passion, he became what he what he wanted to be. The hand of God was upon their lives by letting it rain at the moment they could have been in grave danger. Very well written poem with a good flow, rhymes and right.

I absolutely loved this story/poem, Connie! How sweetly you tell of two young dreamers who are willing to work toward accomplishing a dream, and that's exactly what dreamers do. I wonder... does Jack really want to be an astronaut? Is this based on fact? It is a wonderfully told story and I hope it is recognized by the committee. It is definitely outstanding.

You are such a sweetheart, Adonna, to give my poem such a wonderful review and a shiny six-star rating. Thank you so much! While my grandson Jack is very interested in astronomy, he has made no mention of becoming an astronaut. Both his mom and I are hoping that never happens. Of course, he is only five years old, so I will probably not be around should he decide to venture into space. Given the changing times, who knows how space travel will be when he is grown!
    Thanks again, my friend.

Jack was a very smart little boy who knew years in advance just what he wanted to do years before he realized a lot of things. Excellentcy was for he himself and others that followed after that,

Hi Connie :)
What a lovely story poem...I love how encouraging of Jack and how much belief Madeline has in Jack. Such a beautiful relationship.
Does your Jack want to be an astronaut?!
I really enjoyed your poem, as always, your rhyme and meter are flawless and your use of enjambment really carries the story beautifully.
Good luck in the contest.
Best wishes as always, Debra :) x

Thank you, Debra, for such a delightful review. You asked if our Jack really wants to be an astronaut--I sure do hope not! I couldn't stand the idea of him floating around up there in space. He is very interested in the solar system but has not indicated an interest beyond that, thank God.
    Thanks again!

This is a very good entry for Share a Poem in a Story.
Done in pentameter with abcb rhyme it reads smooth and moves along quickly to tell the tale of a small boys desire to be an astronaut, and a sisters attempts to encourage him... who in the end could look up at the stars and know her brother was indeed out there in space, his dream came true. Well done, Dear. Good Luck in the contest. Nancy:)

Thank you, my dear friend for such a lovely and thoughtful review with the exceptional six-star rating. I am so happy someone actually awarded it six stars! Thank you for that!
I wrote this poem some time ago and want to make it into a little book with illustrations to give to my grandchildren. Unfortunately, I can't draw at all, so it may never happen.
Thanks again, and may you have a most wonderful day!
    Hugs,

A very well-written story poem. When we watch our children play together we are sometimes amazed by the wisdom of their little minds. When their dreams come true we are happy for them.

The story in this quatrain poem is heartwarming, as it is always good to know someone has been persistent enough to achieve a childhood dream that seemed far out of reach at the time. Having lifelong encouragement from someone close (his dear sister, in this case) does make it easier. Anyone in her place that night would be misty-eyed and overflowing with emotion. Superb. (Please accept a Virtual Six, as I am out of this week's allotment.)

This narrative poem is excellent in all respects. It relates a moving story,
conveys an uplifting theme, makes superb use of specific details, and
sustains specific rhyming and metrical patterns. Dialogue is especially effective.

And it really happened. Several times. Long ago, back in the sixties. We think nothing of going to the moon now, but then? It was amaaazing. We actually did it. Wow! Today's kids take it for granted, I think. Those were exciting times!

Awww . . . thank you, Phyllis, for reading and responding to my poem. I actually want to make this into a little handmade children's book for my two grandkids, Jack and Madeline. Wish I knew how to draw.
Thanks again. Hope you are doing well.
