I like this! It's really not a surprise to me that the mixed breed undersized one would be the best of lot on that terrain. Probably the best worker too. I enjoyed this tale about the man from snowy river. Well done! Keep them coming!

I've seen movies made of this story. Your poem is well done and rhymes well. There were a few words I'd make a big stronger or different, but overall the story's complete and good.

A couple of queries:
You don't need a question mark at the end of this line: "who's known throughout Australia for his daring mountain ride?"
