What a wee cutie. No wonder you felt like featuring him in a poem, which has perfect shape. Look at those tiny perfect hands, warily ready to accept your gift from your own patient steadfast one. Lovely work.... the connection with nature and your poem to honour it.

Thank you Lisa! When he takes a peanut from me I can feel those tiny hands and nails. So fragile! He is a joy that lives in my giant oak tree. What a bonus! Your comments are lovely and I appreciate them very much. Thanks.

That would feel really special. I envy you such a trusting bond with Rocky. I wish I had a backyard squirrel.

I have many. But only this little guy took a chance on me. In truth I spent more time building trust and patience with him than I did with my own kids when they were teenagers. Ha! But I am MUCH older now. Odd that I see this as an advantage. LOL

It is intriguing what we choose to be patient about. And also intriguing why Rocky took a chance on you.

Oh gee, I like this more than my own lol! This is so beautiful, and how patient were you? But your reward finally came, and that is testament to that patience. I loved the photo; those animals are so cute, I wish we had them in Australia! Look, I'm going to wish you luck in the contest and hope you take out the winner's badge, even though I'm hoping I do hahahahaha. Good luck, this is great!

Ha! What a delightful review! Thank you so much for these detailed comments. Yes, he is a great joy in my life. I had another picture of him that I was going to use of him pressing his little face against my screen door so I would notice that he was hungry and waiting. As I was getting this ready to post this he came up to the door so I thought I would try and snap him taking a peanut from my hand. Took awhile but I got it. I appreciate this lovely review very much. Thanks again.

Haha. Awesome picture you managed to catch here, author. I'm sure catching a picture of a squirrel wasn't an easy task. This is a great entry into the contest. Perfect nonet form with excellently chosen words. The only thing I wish was that the site would actually center their pictures. It's frustrating sometimes. I use an art program called Gimp when I want to center the pictures I use because I know this site doesn't care about the importance of a centered picture. Lol. I wish you the best of luck in the booth. It should do very well. Love your little squirrel. Have a great Easter.

Why thank you Mr. Skulls! No...this picture was not easy to take. I had to talk and talk and crawl around on cement. My neighbor's cats were out so he was a little skittish. But he came through for me. Thanks for this awesome review. I know what you mean about the centering thing. It's difficult to get things formatted they way you want on this site. But it's all we got, eh? All of this much appreciated, sir. Have a great Easter tomorrow.

Good job on the nonet form. And squirrels can be real entertaining. We have many - but the funniest one is the small brown tree squirrel - when he's around, he rules the yard. He can chase the big fluffies awya.

Nice poem

Thank you Gail. I appreciate this. Yes, this little guy has stolen my heart. I agree, they are very entertaining. And he loves his peanuts. Thanks again. The nonet form was tricky and took quite a while to get it right. Glad you liked it.

How wonderful! I love the natural, fluent flow of your nonet. I also love the incentive you used to build trust...it worked out. Kudos to you!

Best wishes in the contest! (I think I know who this is :-) )

Thank you Sandra for taking the time to read and review this. I love this little guy. It took literally months of cajoling and talking to him before he decided to trust me. Now we are best buddies. A beautiful little creature. Thank you again!
