It's so good to hear that the situation worked out well for all involved--
all happy, no guilt! Your poem is really well-written and moving, leading
smoothly from point to point.

What a sweet story. Home is where the heart is, yes. But a hot babe tops a warm fireplace any day, even when your Dad's age. He's happy and feels more alive than every, thanks to the new lady in his life. I want to think they live long and prosper, and that neither dies before the other. ::)

Hi Connie. This is a reassuring poem for the aged. Independence is the main thing everyone is fearful of relinquishing. I'm glad your dad had an easy time of it and that he found companionship. Marilyn

Thank you, Marilyn, for reading and reviewing my poem. While I didn't include this in the poem, I did notice the very first day I took Dad there that there were a lot of silver-haired ladies who eyed him right away. He was a nice looking man, and the men were in short supply there, so he had a good remainder of his life.
Thanks again.

What a beautiful tribute to your dad.I am sorry for your loss a few years ago, but happy you had a dad that was inspiring enough to make you want to write poetry about him! My mom does that for me. Your work here is wonderful and I wish you all the best in continuing to write from your heart:)
Blessings!

A very well-written poem about a parent that don't like to be pushed around, when he finally agrees to go to the retirement home, he found for the last time some companionship.

This is great Connie. It reminds me of my sister . She developed Alzheimer. When she got to where she didn't know her husband he checked them both into a nursing home and courted her all over again. LOL This is a lovely story about your dad, Connie. Nancy:)

Thank you, Nancy, for your review. The story of your brother-in-law courting your sister all over again was very sweet. You should write a poem about that!

Connie,
How sweet! I'm also glad he appreciated your poetry - even if it was the ones about him. hahahaha! I'm glad to hear the transition went well. Thanks for sharing!

Old age is a curse at times, especially when it affects our everyday lives so that we can't be independent. It is hard to admit we can't cope on our own. I'm glad your father found some happiness before he died, love Dolly x

What a great poem about your Dad. It was so easy to read and so well written. What I love best was the last line, "In his new home, Dad's happy there." Gotta love a happy ending for him and for his children. Good job!
