This gives a taste of what things might have been like back in the old west. Families fell apart and often didn't see each other for years. It was a shock to learn the two were brothers.

I like that this piece also shows how strong a woman can be. She not only saved her father's life she spared him the hurt of having to kill his own brother.

Thank you for this nice review. I think women in the old west had to be strong to survive. It was an interesting time. Thanks so much for taking time to read my poem. :)

This western-themed poem, Westward Bound, is brilliant in its processing of the man's history of failure and success, and family, both known and unknown. No six in my holster today, but I will owe you one.

I REALLY love skillfully-written, well-plotted, smoothly flowing
narrative poems that make me smile while tearing up--like this one.
This is SO good.

A very well-written heartfelt western poem/story. It is never a good idea to show your guns if you are not really have a plan to shoot or defend yourself another may just get an idea the one they love the most is in danger.

That is true! I think though, in spite of all the guns, it would have been an exciting and interesting time to live. Thank you for reading my poem.:)

You did a good job, Boogienights with your contest entry. I enjoyed reading it. Your story told is well expressed and could be a movie.

These lines are really long and seem to interrupt the printed feel. I would make them into another verse to showcase the rhymes as I thought I missed the rhymes initially. Good job and best wishes. Jan

You have the west covered as if you or those within you were living in the western time. This is very good. It reminds me that brothers are different yet they are the same. I love my brothers, we are 6 brothers and one sister. This is a good Western entry. Thank you for sharing ma'am. :)

Having all those brothers and your sister is a blessing...keep them close in your heart. I only had one sister and one brother and they have both passed away. Thank you for reading and for this wonderful review.

I was on the edge of my seat the whole time! What a plot twist at the end! It was his brother the whole time. Maybe neither one would have shot. We will never know. Great poem. 6 stars!!

Hello Boogienights, this was a truly enjoyable read. I can't really think of anything to change. The story flows well and there's a nice little twist at the end. It's too bad the two couldn't have come to each other as brothers before they drew down. Well done. :)
