We can run into a myriad of problems as we age. I'm sorry you have quite so much to contend with. My husband has Type 2 diabetes which of course is much easier to deal with than the insulin-dependent type.

Hi Judy, also Type 2 here but the insulin has come about due to the Hydrocortisone for the Adrenaline Insufficiency. I think I spoke about that more in a poem I wrote or a previous ramble. Should have been with me when I first went to the pharmacy for the Insulin...they were really hard to get on with as the NDSS system had not been updated to show my situation.Thanks for the lovely review.

Thank you for keeping us informed on your and your wife's well being. I really do appreciate it. It sounds as if most of your time is taken up with doctors' appointment. Getting old isn't all that much fun. LOL

Hey Sis you are right about that. We had a scheme here that if you went over a certain amount in out of pocket expenses for Specialists in the year the Medicare Government subsidy increased. I did get a bit of relief that way. Thanks for the lovely review.

My goodness it sounds like you need to Aquire your own medical drug company to satisfy your requirements Geoff. My dad used to take a lot of train rides in his latter years, I think he enjoyed those trips, well done Geoff, keep in touch, blessing for Easter , Roy

Sounds like you're doing okay. Good that you can avoid CPAP. I had to use that for a while and HATED it. Medicare paid for it, but I didn't want it, so I sent it back. Never told my doctors. I'm fine without the awful thing.
I know about the weight gain from steroids. I have to take them every day now, and my diet had been working so well! Now I'm always hungry and sneak cookies etc. Sigh...
I take 16 units of long lasting insulin each morning at breakfast, and I thought THAT was a lot, bu 24! You must use it up fast. But as long as it works, that's all that matters.
I use a wheelchair to go out, but it's not motorized. My hubby pushes me around. It's kind of nice. :)

I am still on CPAP with Humidifier as well. I was one of professor Sullivan's earliest patients in 1989. He is the guy discovered Sleep Apnoea. I probably had sleep disorders from very young. Thanks for the review.

A very well-written ramble about your new life without a car. It can be inconvenient without a car, especially when we are getting older, there are also many new illnesses we need to deal with on a daily basis.

Thank you for the reinforcing photographs and sharing the changes in Newcastle, plus your use of the new light rail system. I am sorry your wife couldn't travel with you but glad to hear there are now wheelchair friendly buses and a ramp at your in-laws' house. I am also pleased to hear you are focused on improving your health issues and even determined what caused the rash on your legs, which is thankfully gone. Sounds as if it would be uncomfortable for her. Sometimes having no vehicle to move about could be a blessings in disguise. Never make a fuss, just take the bus. Good one

I'm glad you're still doing some traveling, even though you no longer have a car. I'd love to travel by train. I think going across Canada by rail would be delightful, but I'm getting too old for such things. It's great the Louise has found a way to get around on the bus. I sympathize with all the ailments you mentioned. I've been going through a bout of urinary tract infection myself and am taking medication which, hopefully, will clear it up. I know what you mean about understanding some of the doctors. I have a couple who have such an accent that they're hard to understand. Interesting stuff, and hope you find improved health. judi

Thanks, Judi, yeah I think I omitted to mention the UTI I had needed a stronger Anti biotic..normally Keflex worked but this one needed Macrodantin a stronger one. Hioe you caught all the LInks and pics. I did not mention about the trip into our city in the blurb twice.

It's hard to keep track of all those medications, and adjusting the dosage can be tricky. Wonderful that you're still able to do some traveling. judi
