So beautiful and timely with Easter just around the corner. Your few words (17 syllables) aptly describe the sacrifice made by Jesus, our Messiah, (and all that He went through mentally and physically on the cross), so that we could have life and relationship eternally with the Father.
An excellent contest entry!!

Thank you for these comments. Easter is a special time to be grateful for sacrifice. I wouldn't want to waste what He did.

Amen. We are to serve the One who gave His life for us.

Thanks Dolly...definitely more than just easter eggs.

Absolutely spectacular job with this one, Mystery Writer. Your choice of words, the use of alliteration and the abundance of sibilants makes it memorable and haunting. Best of luck in the contest. This seems like a frontrunner to me. xo

A very well-written 5-7-5 faith poem about the sacrifice Jesus made for us on the cross so that we can have the chance to find eternal life in heaven.

Thank you for your generous review. You understand my thoughts exactly.

I don't believe scared applied to Jesus sacrifice, heavily burdened forsaken as in left behind when in need doesn't necessarily mean afraid. Interesting perspective on your entry. Good Luck in the contest and may God Bless you.

Thanks so much for your review and good wishes. Blessings to you too.
I took my use of scared to mean afraid and stressed, from this situation: "yet when Jesus entered the Garden of Gethsemane, it was as if a supernatural cloud of discouragement and fear enveloped the Savior. Three times He prayed to God, ?remove this cup from me, nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done? (Luke 22:41). So great was His agony and stress that His sweat turned into blood (vs. 44), a rare medical condition known as hematidrosis that usually occurs ?under conditions of extreme physical or emotional stress.?

Thank you.

Such a profound picture of the Savior. Such a sad picture. Such beautiful and meaning words. Short and to the point. Thanks for sharing your faith!!

Thank you for reviewing my poem. It's such a beautiful painting, but utterly tragic. Easter is a special time.

scared, scarred, and sacred
Jesus' sacrifice for us
to live in God's love
A horrifying scene it was too. I remember seeing the movie about His death on the cross and it was almost too awful to watch. Yet He loved us that much. Amazing grace indeed.
Beautiful poem.
All the best,
Jan

Oooh, I wouldn't be able to watch scenes like that. His sacrifice was incredible. I wouldn't waste it by not loving Him for it.

Beautifully done! There is nothing like the Easter story to work faith in our hearts. We have only to look forward to the reward He earned for us on the cross. Best wishes in the contest.

Thank you for reviewing my poem Carla.
Easter is a time for deep reflection.
Comment from JanPerry
Jesus rises from the dead on Easter. I like "scared and" scarred" put together as they produce a homonym with such totally different meanings. This is clever indeed.

I think that we're in a better place because Christ has fought so much for our freedom. In this way we are grateful for God. Very inspirational poem. Thanks!
