I loved this poem for many reasons, Connie. First, it is (as usual for you) perfectly metered and with solid, consistent rhyming. But best of all is the story you tell so vividly and the memories this is bound to evoke in all who read it. My own memories swirled to the surface and made me smile as I pictured you and Jack splashing through puddles on a rainy day. This was just so much fun to read, and I'm glad I stopped in to see what you've been doing. So glad to find this happy piece from you. ~MM

Thank you, my dear friend, for such a lovely review. Not only do you write wonderful poetry, but you write wonderful reviews as well! And thank you, too, for the exceptional rating. My husband and I were driving through Auburn recently, and I always think of you when passing through. Auburn--the home of one very talented poet!
Lots of hugs to someone who has always been so supportive.

Wow, Connie, I really enjoyed this one. I remember being a puddle jumper, though not with my mom.

You have a loved memory for multiple generations and that is awesome.

Nicely conveyed on your poem. John

As grandmothers we do have some of the sweetest memories of times spent with our own mothers, our daughters and now our grandchildren. They take away some of the aches and pains from our knees and hips - just for little while when we reminisce. Rainy days can still be fun. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you, June, for your most thoughtful review. Yes, rainy days can still be fun, at least while my knees still hold out.

This poem is great fun to read. I look forward to rainy days once Old Man Winter releases us. There were a few puddles on the street on Saturday hat hubs couldn't resist driving through. There were no pedestrians around so he enjoyed himself.

Joy xx

Yes! I love those days, too, and like you, I still play in the rain. My granddaughter and I chased a twig down the gutter for blocks until it went around the corner and into a culvert. Even with an umbrella, we were drenched, but what fun! This is a delightful poem about the simple, happy things in life.

What a nice review! Thank you so much. Your chasing a twig down the gutter for blocks with your granddaughter reminds me of doing the very same thing with my grandson when he was about three. Grandkids are such fun and make us stay active, which is a good thing.
    Thanks again.

Ah, to be a puddle-jumping kid again. Or even to have one at my side. At my age, if I come with five feet of a puddle, I lose my balance and fall in face first. Not as much fun, so I don't go out in the rain. In fact, there is only ONE thing that can get me out of the house... doctor appointments. I have 14 docs to choose from, so I keep busy. :)

Thank you, dear Phyllis, for your feedback. I'm so sorry that your only time getting out of the house is to see doctors. I'm glad that in between all those doctor visits you have time to write, given your tremendous talent as a fiction writer and a poet too!
I truly appreciate your reading and responding to my poetry.
    My best to you.

A very well-written poem about the fond childhood memories of jumping puddles in the rain while your mother seems to enjoy it as much as you did and she let you enjoy the jumping even when it was messy.

What a beautiful picture to grace a very lovely poem of remembrance. You were lucky to have had a young mother. Mine was thirty five when she had me. I was the third and I don't remember her playing with me. Of course it was the war years. Not much joy in those years. The poem is delightful Connie. Love it! Nancy:)

Thank you, my dear friend, for such a lovely review and the six-star rating, a very pleasant surprise! My mom was only sixteen when she had me, so she was almost like a big sister. In fact, we would watch American Bandstand together when I was a teenager.
    Thanks again.
    Hugs,
