Your poem is very thought provoking .
Sadly being a mother these days is not seen as much of a rewarding / gratifying "job " as it should and merits.
More women want to pursue a career as a means to accomplish something worthy in life.
Their are other women that want to eat their �came and still have it : they want a career and also a family, a child .
the truth is you can't do both well .
When you are pursuing a career there is no 9 to 5 schedule
..working overtime goes without saying....
hence your child will grow up with various nannies/babysitters and you will see them 1/2 an hour before bed time...
having to travel for business is also a likelihood so Skype will become a habitual thing ...
if you believe differently , you're fooling yourself.
Conclusion: The truth is that being a mother is not only a tough job but it's one of the most important ones cause the wel being and success of our society stems from our children growing up in a loving , caring , balanced family environment, where the mother is 100% present and focused on her child / children.
Your poem is very simple but for those that take a moment to let the scene you describe sink in , one can see that at the heart of it there is a very important message.
A mother's role today is sadly underestimated and we will all pay the price for that ..we are creating a loveless , uncaring society, world.

The only time I spend in the kitchen is to heat my packaged food each meal in the microwave oven. Because of my eyesight my family will not let me use a knife.
