Very nice. It seems that no matter what I write ends up at the bottom of the heap once it gets to a booth. Very well done. It is nice to have some representation for those of us that dwell in the basements of the booths. Thanks for sharing. The CEC contests seem even worse. I'm not sure that it is even possible for a wannabe to ever place in one of their contests. Believe me I've tried.

Thank you for the excellent review and the big sixer, LK. Just took a glance through your profile page. Looks like you haven't been at the bottom of the heap 'every' time, lol. I see quite a few winners in there, friend. Yeah, these contests are always a toss up. You never know what's going to win. Like for instance this silly piece. I would never had imagined in a million years that this would get any votes besides my own, let alone enough to win this contests. It took me by total surprise. Glad it did though, now I have more cash to write more dumb stuff for contests. Lol. I got lucky and won a site sponsored contest a time or two way back when. But, like you, I quit even trying seeing as what passes for winners anymore. I really appreciate the generous stars, LK. Thank you again. Have a great rest of your weekend.

There do seem to be trends. May grandmas think outside the box! Be yourself. You have a voice that needs to be heard and I like your honesty. Your work means a great deal to you, that is clear.

It seems that if you think the contests are all 'just junk and games,' maybe you shouldn't play.
There are a lot of us who don't enter the contests--AND we may be grandmas, or Christians or the other things you mock.
Small wonder I rarely read your poetry. Writing with contempt is just pointless.

Oh, on the contrary, Patty, I love these contests. After eleven and a half years on this site, that's the only reason I stay...for the contests.
A few things; I am also a grandparent. I have three grandkids that mean the world to me. I just don't think that because someone mentions they have grandkids and adds a cute little picture, in a contest, that it should win every time.
I also, like numerous people, have a couple cats that I dearly love. But again, simply because my cats purr when I pet them, doesn't mean I should win every contest I enter because the voting majority owns cats as well.
When I bought my house, two years ago, I had to replace the old fencing around it. When I put the new fence up, I made it four feet further out just so my wife could have a garden. I also love that. But the same deal, because I have a garden shouldn't mean I get every vote from people who do as well.
Lastly, never once, EVER have I mocked Christians. I believe God holds a place for me through the shed blood of Jesus. Yes, I entered a silly piece into a prayer contest but I believe God also has a sense of humor and wouldn't see this as mockery. Never once have I and never will I mock Christianity. Yes, I mock pretty well everything under the sun. For me, that's what brings a twisted kind of joy. I'm not writing the dumb crap I write for anyone but myself. If some people get a chuckle out of it...great. That's what I hope for. Anyone who knows me knows the ignorant stuff I write, and expect it. I'm just poking fun at other people's expense. They can either shrug it off or whine about it. I don't care. I can say with a hundred percent certainty, it's going to happen again. I'm not writing with contempt, I'm just goofing around. That's what I like to do. There's a very easy solution for people who don't want to read the stupid stuff I write. Mute me.

I'm glad you made your way out of that box. Being stuck in there stinks. Lol. I love all those things I mentioned. I have three grandkids. My wife has a garden, I love our cats, I see the sunrise every day. I love all that, I just don't want to read about it every single day of what's left of my life, lol. Plus, that shouldn't win every contest just because people love them too. So I had to throw my two cents in there, ha. Thank you for the humorous review and gracious stars, Lisa. I would be interested to know which poetic form the Good Lord is currently favouring. If it is rhyming couplets, I would say that the God is on the side of the grandmas. Should He anser in free verse then perhaps there is hope after all.
