I chose this eight off because of the alliteration in the title. I believe that is a great way to draw many readers in. Then the use of the S's effect the sound of brakes to slow someone down. The p's sound like the popping the cap on the bottle. It has a cheerful note to it to go along with the celebratory spirit and spirits. A fun write. I'm voting for this.

Hi Debra, I enjoyed this wee little limerick of yours. Poor ol'Paddy doesn't know what he's got himself into with Gert (the name could be a male or female...) The only suggestion I would make is to remove all punctuation as I do not think it is needed - especially in the second line within the brackets. Thank you for sharing this amusing poem. ~DD

This was a great read. It made me laugh, and I loved it. The limericks really work for this type of contest. I think you did a great job with it. Good luck in the contest.

The Irish...are often called Paddy
They get it from Ma and from Daddy
resort to rhymes quite rudish
Gert was not prudish
Got preggers and now there's a laddie

Sorry I try to review in kind... it was cute Gert's a beaut...sorry... it was good

Your limerick is meant to be amusing AND it is! Good job with your rhymes. Your selected illustration is eye catching.

Paddy even without "sherry's'" help with Gert is a smiling dude.

    I must have been drinking something. Maybe I confused another review with yours, where Guinness was mentioned. LOL.. I should just stick with milk and cookies and not be so picky with my spelling suggestions. Apologies for my fuzziness.
