Hi Lisa May,
What a fab pseudonym, may I say...you totally had me thinking that was your real name! Love how it came about.
I really enjoyed reading your answers to the questions - Truly fascinating. You should write a book!
Number 3...wow, I would've freaked, being unable to put down the rock.
Thank you for sharing...
Best wishes, Debra :)

I joined FS to get more confidence in writing and to be around writers more so I could 'hone my craft', because YES, I am writing a book... sort of a memoir thingy but a lot to do with the 2-yr motorcycle trip around Australia.

Hi Lisa,

WOW - You are quite adventerous, my friend.

I loved reading about your experience with the rock. It sounds a lot like shamanism, and Ifa, a Nature relgion practiced in West Africa. Very potent and cathartic "medicine," those stone spirits. (G)

Thanks so much for sharing.

I am interested in shamanism, having travelled extensively in Central Australia, living outdoors and feeling the 'vibes' of the indigenous aboriginal peoples. Maybe that is why the rock resonated so strongly with me. I think it is so important to be open to other energies.

I have missed out a lot by not having a family, but I guess that turned me into a resourceful person happy in my own company (usually) and able to embrace variety.

Loved your "rock" story - could be a post all on its own!
reply by the author on 07-Mar-2019
I am spoiled for choice of what to write about... limited by time and opportunity, and the fact I can't stay home writing all day... I have to get out to keep having my interesting life!
I could write a series on all kinds of 'rock' experiences I've had.
reply by lyenochka on 07-Mar-2019
"rock" as in the music or the geological one? If the latter, I may be competing with you as I was thinking about writing about rocks. Lol.
reply by the author on 07-Mar-2019
I'm looking forward to learning more of geological matters at your hands!

Rare is the person I've met in this life who, the more I learn about them, the more I WANT to learn. Yet this is the case with you. You are a multi-faceted gem, and I am so happy to be making friends with you. xo

Thanks for the flattery, Rachelle... now I am a big-headed multi-faceted gem!
I am enjoying our friendship very much too.

It's not flattery if it's true.

This was really cool, LisaMay. You've had a lot of great experiences which definitely helps with your writing. Love the section about your living in a tent. Awesome.

I agree that a variety of life experience makes rich source material for writing. Sometimes I really miss my little tent and long to 'hit the road' again. My cat would object though.

Wow! I knew you were a talented writer, Lisa, but I had no idea your background was so varied. What a wonderful history! I envy you those motorcycle trips. I have only a motor scooter. Many thanks for sharing YOURSELF so candidly. Rod

I think the fact that I don't have a family, while it does mean I have missed out on so much, it also means i have been able to do so many different things... which makes for great source material when writing.

?Great source material when writing.? You betcha! You probably will never run out of things to write about. Rod

I just decided this year to write stories. I put together a list of topics to write about, but now I can think up a many topics every day and it is obvious that many good stories won't get told, because there is not enough time. I think once my imagination was let loose, with my decision to write, the floodgates have opened.
I am an artist also ... people ask, "where do you get your ideas from?" Ideas are everywhere, jostling for attention, or waiting to be noticed. Sometimes they make themselves insistent, sometimes we have to sniff them out.
reply by RodG on 07-Mar-2019
Do you see a haiku or cinquain waiting to be written from just the words you used in the last two sentences of this reply? Not only ideas spill out of you, but the words and images, too. Rod

Good suggestion!... it's a matter of noticing the trees as well as the forest itself.

Wow, Lisa, this was a real look into your interesting life. Thank you so much for sharing. I will attempt to do this multi-author thing. My eyesight is in decline, and this has kind of post has not been successful so far. (Earl Corp helped me with my most recent ones.) Two of my brothers loved motorcycles. One still rides although in his 70's. Australia is a beautiful place to be, I imagine. It is always fun to view it through the eyes of those who live there. I am blessed to hear you are caring for your dad. I know firsthand what that is all about. It says a lot about you.
All my best,
Sal :+)

I have enjoyed any of the life glimpses that other writers have submitted, so I look forward to yours, Sally.
I am 65 now, but i hope to still be riding a motorbike when i am in my 70's like one of your brothers.
I live in New Zealand now; it is very beautiful here, not as harsh as Australia can be.
Our dad's are special to us...you obviously are a carer to your father too. My father was much older than everyone else's fathers, because I was adopted. He died 20 years ago now, when he was 88. I still miss him every day.

I enjoyed reading your formatted bio here and amazed at the life-style you, and others, have created and thrived in. Australia sounds like an exciting place to grow up and become a powerful human being.

    Thanks for your review, Bill.
My Australian childhood was a great start to an interesting life. My father was a scout leader and i tagged along with the boys (I was a daddy's girl) so I grew up as quite a tomboy, with very capable skills.

LisaMay what an exciting life. Of motor bikes my husband and started marriage on a Suzuki 250 I sat on the tail light almost when we got groceries...and I believe it's why we have a strong marriage I prayed without ceasing. Lol . I'm a New Zealander but live in Kentucky one daughter lives in Cambodia a son in Alabama and a daughter in Florida. I'm coming home in June to Mount Maunganui where I grew up...our daughter Becca is meeting us there from Cambodia..wahoo..we'll stay in the shadow of the mount be with family but have our own space.
I especially loved the rock . I believe forgiveness is the thing we need the most .
God bless and hugs where in NZ are you

Sitting on the tail light would be uncomfortable, no wonder you needed to pray!
What a spread out international family... how lovely to meet up with Becca in a few months.
I have a friend who lives in Tauranga, so i know the Mount... lovely place.
I am down in Dunedin. xx
