VERY good poetry, IMHO, BUT your second one doesn't fit the syllable count required for a cinquain, as far as I know... Inferno is three syllables, for example = In/fer/no = 3.
Lets break down another line for that cinquain. (Fiery is the syllable-rule exception. It can be two or three syllables. There are a few words like "fire" with that exception).
Moving on --
Flick/er/ing =3
flar/ing = 2
burn/ing = 2
__________
total = 7
Next line:
A/void = 2
at all costs =3
___________
total 5
Nonetheless, as a certain bard might say (*smile*), what's in a name; a rose by any other name still smells as sweet.
Just don't call your sweet poems cinquains and all is good. :)) WE (poets) invent the formats. I like these poems very much.

Wow -- don't think I've even heard of the second type one there -- thanx for the introduction! :) ;) Great cinquains with worthwhile messages! ;) ;) Be sure to pop back in there and center your final "Hell". :) Thanx for sharing and good luck in the contest! :) ;)

This was a good read. I can appreciate the imagery and the flow of these two cinquains. I think your warning is pretty evident and you did it in a good way. Nice job.
