I am not surprised that this poem won the contest. I love it to pieces! I still have that childlike wonder in Nature's moods and beauties that you have captured so well in this sonnet. Well done.

How very beautiful! Your descriptions are marvellous and very visual. I like the first line (about black clouds) very much.
It's true that children see things with different eyes.
Thanks for sharing.

There are times in a child's life that are mystical, with rain, clouds, wind and snow. I remember those days so many years ago when we didn't care how wet we got as we tried to see how big of a splash we could make as we rode our bikes as fast as we could through great mud puddles. I remember. Congratulations on well deserved win.

The thing about getting older, is taking the time to reminisce and thinking about the good stuff. You're welcome, Rod.

This kind of poem really takes me back to my childhood days. After a big rainstorm, my brothers and me always went out to check out nature. After a storm it's so peaceful and lots of things to explore are available. Nice job.

I'm old now. You're poem stirred memories of when I was young, pre 10. I'm the boy in the picture but with no boots or umbrella. I'd played in the rain, stomped, stir up and splash in puddles. Soaked shirt and shoes, I didn't care. I was fascinated with puddles and rivulets of water. I'm am still fascinated by nature and will walk through puddles just to see how the mud stirs up and the water splashes.
Your poem touched me. thanks

Oh I absolutely love this! Remembering what it was like as a child. Seeing the wonder in everything, even in the rain! Those were the days I long to recapture. And you did a great job of it in this poem. I love your descriptive details too!
