Wow! Superb poem. Love that last part:

for few have crossed,
and those . . .
never returned.
What lies in wait,
lurking
in the circling
miasma <-- Great word choice!
of gray vapor? <-- Great word choice!

I love the imagery in your beautiful
free verse.
There is a mysterious quality conveyed by your
choice of words.Where does this bridge lead,
where those who cross it never return?
Heaven perhaps?

What a perfect picture to parallel your title and theme! You have a fertile imagination to conjure up this bridge. I enjoyed your telling this mystery story in free verse. Cheers- Joan

Your ultra-concise, powerful poem vividly describes the mystery of the mist-enshrouded "bridge." I believe it is--could be--about uncertainty concerning what happens after death.

It could be. I'm always interested to see each person's 'take' on a poem. Thank you for a great review.

Nice work. I love the image you have created. I also like how the ending is vague. The bridge could lead to opportunity, disaster, or something else - though it has a nice ominous feel that suggests disaster more than opportunity.

You did a great job creating suspense with your free verse bridge poem, Yvonne. Your picture choice is perfect for your well-chosen words. Your lines read smoothly with a great imagery. You leave readers wondering what's on the other side. I guess one will never know since those that cross over don't come back. Your poem leaves open much interpretation for readers to come up with themselves. I see touches of alliteration and consonance with against/mist. I like the way you have displayed your lines. Great job and thanks for sharing. Jan

Nice mysterious poetry. Anything could be on the other side, but we will never know. Very well-written and a real puzzle. You did a fine job with this! I wish you the best in the challenge!

The gray vapor is smog and what lies on the other side of the bridge is Los Angles. People never return because they can't find the bridge again in all the smog.

I really enjoyed the creative and progressive process of leading your reader to see the transition of one life to another through the concept of being united by a bridge. Awesome.

Ooooooo inquiring minds want to know.
What is in the miasma of grey vapor ........? Ghosts, flotsam and jetsam or just a guy called Sam who's lost his flot and jet...or a girl...Sam
Brilliant poem
God bless
