This speaks a story about revealing old age, as the woman of today was someday young, so if we survive, we through time and age pass series of cycles of aging, it is natural; well said, well done. Keep Writing Inspire Changing! -- DR ALCREATOR

So true. I look in the mirror and I wonder where that young girl went. She morphed into my mother in my 60's and into my grandmother in my 70's. Now in my 80's I think maybe I can be myself again. LOL Your poem is well written and one most all can relate to. Nancy:)

Nancy, I wish I was morphing into my beautiful 90 year old mother. ;0). Thanks for reading my work.

I too reflect on days gone by. Your poem touched similar chords in me and how fleeting youth is. Your message at the end to the youth of today is invaluable. Unfortunately, like us, they will not heed.

Yes, you are right. The young never realize how quickly "it" will all fade away. Thanks for commenting on my poem.

A well written verse for the Story Poem/Prose contest.
The story is clear and unfortunately, all too true.
Well done and good luck to you with the contest.

This story poem, Old, begins with the what I would perceive as a complaint mode. at least for me. The markings of age and the final realization that the past is not coming back around. Still, the understanding that life has offered much and rewarded over time. Time allows for experiences, but takes its toll. Nice poem.

Great poem for the contest, good luck.

When I was very young
I never thought
I'd look in the mirror and see
staring back one old as me.
One who had wrinkles
around their eyes
but to my surprise
there I stood and I
could not disguise
that I indeed was old.
