I like the turn from observation to realization to good wishes for others. I like the careful stanza format. It is easy to read and works to connect others with the reality of aging. I agree with your comment about the beautiful tree. Enjoyed reading this poem.

This is lovely - and so true, too.
I remember when I was a teenager, an 'older' family friend whom I adored said, "I don't feel any different inside than I did when I was your age." I never forgot that because it made so much sense to me. And it made me look at everyone through a much different perspective then. This is the essence of this beautiful poem of yours, and evoked wonderful memories of that dear woman. So thank you for that, and good luck in the contest. xo

I enjoyed this read, unknown writer. You make a very good point on this subject. I know it's hard for younger people to believe that one day before they know it, they'll be old, too. Nice job and good luck in the contest.

Time does go by so fast. Everyday is important. We usually don't realize that until we get slapped in the face with something we need to change. Like changing something to better our Health or help a Relationship. Enjoyed you Poem.

This is a very lovely, moving poem that I can relate to completely. I just
turned 67 and am sometimes amazed at how blooming fragile I've become
just in the last year! I love the sage advice you've given to those who aren't
HERE yet.

Thank you for sharing this poem. I understand all too well it's meaning because it is about ME. We never appreciate our youth until we realize that it is gone or almost gone. Good job, I LOVED it. HUGS

This poem fits me as well. I do not feel a bit older than I did at 18, but the mirror tells me a different tale. This poet is telling you the truth. Don't waste a moment, always cherish your time - even when the years have bent and aged you, your mind can stay young and vital!

This is a great entry in the contest. The story of
a woman feeling your but looking older.
Isn't that the truth.
Enjoy life while you're young, take care of yourself.
Good luck in the contest.

Life is a pain in the butt... We get exponentially as the years fly by and our physicality goes to seed and facing that transition is never fun... good one. yours, diana

I have those hands and the image I see does not always reflect what is in my heart because I still feel young, but having this kind of appreciation of the life we have lead is uplifting and thankful. I enjoyed your tribute to yourself and the life you have lived, love Dolly x
