This poem shows that this woman decides greed and lust need to be changed for sharing and love. Life is in the sharing not the taking and buying. Money isn't everything. Faith brings you what you need the most. I like the single lines which
show the change or emotions.

Good luck in the contest.

This is a lovely poem. At first I thought it was very realistic but also sad. Then I got to the ending and realized there was a happy resolution.
Thanks for sharing and good luck in the contest.

I do like the evolution in this poem from acquisition and accumulation of consumer items through to the realisation that a life that cannot be bought holds more fulfilment and satisfaction. You have drawn this together very well and the sentiments expressed are worthy ones.

This is wonderful and it illustrates how things don't bring you happiness. Its peace, joy and love that fills us up. A well written and thought provoking piece. Thanks for sharing.

A very well-written story/poem about the things we want in life and every time we see the things we thought will bring us peace and happiness are not right and we seek something else but until we find the things that count we will not find peace in our hearts.

First of all, I hope, for your sake, your poem isn't autobiographical.
I cannot be empathetic with a character so greedy, and inappreciative of the lush life she claims to lead, whoever she is, or isn't.

While having money in life certainly doesn't hurt it's nowhere near the catch all, cure all fix for everything.
For example, money can't buy you true love, friendship or happiness.
But, let's face it, we simply cannot live well and be happy without money.
What we must be carefully conscious of is to never allow money to rule us and who we are as people.
We should never worship money for it is, indeed, the root of all evil.
Share with others, help those less fortunate than we are--those are ways in which money can make us happier for having it.
After all...we can't take it with us...

The Wisdom of Dean is very welcome... Money can't buy love... check, friends to trust implicitly... check. It is also as you so smartly observe a necessary evil... Then there is money that is plucked from your dollar tree to be used for smoke and mirrors... that is the money I want to avoid and Dean great review... thanks and thanks for my healthy dollar tree!

This was a good read, unknown poet. I like the transitioning of the narrator from the beginning to the end. And a good transition it was. Nice job and good luck in the contest.

Very nicely put in words...the yearning for some things more meaningful and less materialistic in life. I like the rhyme scheme used as well. Good luck with the contest !

A wonderful entry for the contest. Material things so not fill the void of love and security. Your last line of the poem just says it all. This flows well. It was an easy read to follow. This is very well done. Good luck in the contest.
