What an adorable rhyming acrostic poem. I also loved your author's note about you and your husband having only one thing in common. I'd never thought of it that way, but my husband and I fall into the same bucket. Must have gotten hit by two stray arrows. Good luck in the contest.

This is really fun! I enjoyed reading the acrostic poem, and then laughed when I read your Author's notes that say, you have been together for thirty years, and are still together! Cupid can't explain it and neither can you. But the two of you are smitten with each other in a lasting relationship. That is just wonderful! It's the perfect Valentine's Day poem, as far as I'm concerned. Honest and fun, like the day is supposed to be. Thanks for sharing your love life.
Take care, Jesse

-Cute image and nice presentation, Yvette.
-I like the formatting of your poem.
-You use good examples to prove
your point about cupid's arrow
"missing the mark."
-However, when it comes
down to it, he was under
Cupid's spell, too, or was it yours?!
-Good luck in the contest.

Hi Yvette :)
I really enjoyed your poem.
It's very cute!
Nicely rhymed, effective use of enjambment, nice touches of alliteration and a lovely sentiment.
Good luck in the contest.
Best wishes, Debra :)

Yes, I must agree with you, I have no idea why my wife married me, unless she likes red back spiders, (a deadlyish native to Australia, I was a redhead, before the snow came!) she is the sweetest person... So, it's a question I can't answer dear Yvette. Just enjoy, congratulations, I love your non-sloppy entry in the acrostically based poem. Good luck, blessings, Roy

Okay, you just make me laugh out loud here, Roy -- that's hilarious! ;) :) And, yeah, 'non-mushy' is about all I can do, Roy -- completely devoted, but definitely not the 'hearts and flowers' type! ;) Thanx for the review and be sure to give that sweetest person a big kiss! ;) :) Take care! ;) Yvette :)

A very well-written acrostic poem for Valentine's. We sometimes wonder what was Cupid thinking when he released that arrow. But at the end of the day he is about 89 percent of the time right.

Love that 89percent number there, Sandra -- you got data to back that one up?!! LOL! LOL! Thanx so much for the review and the smile! ;);) Yvette :)
reply by Sandra du Plessis on 15-Feb-2019
I don't have data, a wishful guess. The data is not always hundred Percent right either. Cupid make 89 percent of the time the right connection it is us who screw things up. Lol.

I am glad you were inspired by Valentine's Day to create this acrostic. I enjoyed your playful admissions, rhymes and "hawk and dove" simile. Best wishes in the contest and here's to thirty more years! Cheers- Joan

Cute - I so like the light and humorous approach to poetry, to stories. And it's true I think - opposites do end up together. My husband is the patient, slow-moving, steady one. On the other hand, I'm quite addle-headed about some things and dart in where I should not. good job.

That is an excellent poem about Valentine's Day written with some good humor and interwoven with insight.
I like that last line, "don't laugh because he got You too. "

That is just enough to make love work! You have more things to talk about at the dinner table, exchanging the day's adventures. Well done, I love this poem, it's obvious that Cupid new what he was doing. :)) Good luck in the contest. Sandra xxx
