Brigitte,
This is a good poem about the way a parent feels about a baby when putting him/her to sleep. But a lot of these midnights in a row can grate on your patience. The artwork shows the love of a father for his child.
Keep writing and stay healthy.

Sweet as can be, and it brings back beautiful memories to me. You are spot-on with your syllable count, and the picture is a perfect complement to the message of the poem. Good luck!

Sentimental writes seem to be the ones that hit readers right in their hearts.
And oh yes, babies DO grow up way too painfully too fast.

This brings back memories of sitting with a child on my lap. The thoughts echo what I would say. I like the last line with one more kiss since it seems to put the child and poem to bed. Enjoyed reading it.

I'm sure every parent has experienced this beautiful
time with a baby - sitting in the dark, holding that sweet little life.
In these few words you bring all the memories back.
Thanks for sharing and good luck in the contest.

This is a simply sweet poem. The parent is probably exhausted after midnight, but the loving tenderness shines through. Lucky baby!
I like how you have put repeated words at the beginning and end.

Hello Mystery Poet,
I agree with you, babies bring joy. I love it when my grandbabies come to visit. They always pull me out of my gloomy moods and make my world so much brighter. I can say that now as a grandmother. When I was a young mom walking the floors with a crying baby I admit to having found it tough. It's not easy when they can't tell you what is wrong. All we can do is breathe and try to stay calm. I always slept when my baby slept. Now that I'm old and grandmotherly I still don't sleep through the night. Ah well. I love them babies.
Best wishes in this contest.

You have made effective use of every syllable in this adorable 5-7-5 about
the --uh, joys . . . of parenthood! :-) How well I remember those times. Yes,
even those times are a bit sweet.
