I did not know Michael Cahill was ill, but I am glad I congratulated him in January when he was acclaimed Poet of the Month. Thank you for adding your tribute in rhymed couplets to this talented and gregarious poet. Warm regards- Joan

I don't think anyone knew that he was ill. It surprised us all. Thanks so much for the review. Blessings!

You did not sound depressing in your "Ephemeral" poem. And thank you for telling me that no one knew Michael was ill and wasn't just out of the loop. May he rest in peace- Joan

A very well-written tribute to Michael, his legacy even reached the few who do not really know him well. He was indeed an example and mentor for all of us here on FanStory.

Yes, I've heard many, many good things about him. I never got the chance to make his acquaintance. I did however get to read some of his writing. He was a very skilled writer. You've penned a beautifully written poem in memory of him. Very Well done!

That's my situation, too. I feel I've really missed an opportunity to learn from him. Thanks for the thoughtful review, Jeffrey! Hope you are doing well.

Thank you for saying what I am sure many of us are thinking, Helen.
He seemed to write truly honestly, openly and from his heart.
May his family find joy in reading what he left us all.

I hope his family knows what a blessing he was here. I'm sad I didn't really get to know him. Thanks for the super review and six stars, Patti! Hugs!

It happens sometimes that we only know of someone's goodness through other people's experience. Such is the case with Michael... I do not know anything about him as I am a new member, but the sentiments expressed in your simple poem capture the hope and inspiration that we can aspire to.

And I didn't really get to know him as others have so I relate to your comments about learning about him through other's experiences. Much appreciated! Blessings!

Very lovely. It is a very heartfelt poem. I didn't know him that well, except from impressions of others. He did make a great impact on others, as shown by the great outpouring from FS members. Gracefully written. judi

Cheers, Helen;
> It wonderfully written acknowledgment of a person who gave more, in terms of his time and sacrifice, to help others.
> Your tender writing proves the impact that he had on those they didn't even know him as well but still have heard of him.

I've been here since late 2013, but our literary paths only crossed a couple of times. But I do know he was highly thought of. I don't even know his age, but RIP Mike, I hope you meet the divine reward, that faith brings, well done Helen, blessings, Roy

Thank you so much, Roy. I always thought he was at least younger than me. So it wasn't just me that didn't get to know him. Perhaps someday in Heaven.
Blessings!

This was a very nice eulogy for Michael Cahill, who was a popular and important member of the Fanstory site. Many knew him and many wished to. That has to be a good place from which to take off.

Hi Helen,
This is a really nice tribute to Michael :) I got to know him through private messages mostly. He helped me improve my silly fish poem. I learned a lot about never considering my poems finished, but that the more we look at them we can think up ways to improve the words to make it so much better. He surprised me not too long ago by sticking up for me to a nasty reviewer that totally broke me down. I didn't even realize he knew about that review. It's amazing that our reviews are there for all to see and some people do check that stuff out. I was grateful to him, and decided to stay on site and not crumble in despair never to return. I'm such an emotional soul who needs to toughen up. He seemed to understand.
Anyway, he was a huge presence in the forums and clubs. He really brought a lot of people together in the name of writing. That was really special.
