When I think of death I think of the person being freed of pain, trouble and the cares of the world. You have expressed your thoughts well in verse. A lovely poem.

Hi Carol. Did you know him? I did not, but I wrote a poem for him anyway and know he was highly thought of by the members of the site. Gob bless him. A nicely composed poem in the style you created. Marilyn

I did know him, mostly when I was doing the Potlatch poems. He was an amazing man, I was shocked to hear of his death. I will check out your poem :)

I don't believe I had the pleasure to exchange words with him
due to my memory I forget things
Yet everyone has post their great lost of him
how bless you were to have met a rare bird like him.

Thank you for sharing this splendid tribute to Michael Cahill. I did not know he was ill but was grateful that he was recognized in January as Poet of the Month. His "gifted soul...will ever shine". Warm regards- Joan

That Latin phrase gives this tribute to our dear FanStory friend, Michael Cahill, the weight of solemn dignity. The choice if the Sapphonic Triad was a perfect platform on which to express your sentiments. I was deeply touched.

Thank you so much, I love that particular phrase and agree that the Latin language gives gravitas to the sentiment - I very much appreciate your kind review,

-Very nice image, Carol.
-Your notes are appreciated.
-A good quote to begin; I
like the fact it is in Latin.
-Words are so hard in a
difficult situation, but
you expressed your
heartfelt feelings in
a way that Michael would
certainly appreciate and relate to.
-Thanks for sharing; he will be missed.

The psalms are often a good place to look for comfort or inspiration...thanks, Pam,

Hello Carol,
A most beautiful Triad for Michael.
As busy as Michael always appeared to be, I'm sure he's earned his rest.
He'll be a star in the heavens as well as on the pages of Fanstory.
I like to think of him conversing with all the poets and musicians of the past.
Wonderful epitaph.

Oh Robert...to think of him conversing with poets and story tellers of the past, I can picture him conversing with Joyce and Wordsworth now. Thank you, I pray that this could be true :)

A nice addition to the collection. Unfortunately, I never got to know Michael very well, but I did read enough of him to know he was extremely talented - and obviously extremely popular on Fanstory. Your elegant poem and sentiments seem an appropriate homage - I'm guessing he is pleased as he assumes his place in the firmament.

With God's grace, maybe one day we will all be there, conversing from amongst our places in the firmament - now that would be heaven :)))

He is in God's hands now and is kicking back with all the great legends of all times. He was a great friend and mentor and a very gentle man he cared for one and all. Helping when he could. May he rest in peace
