The picture you post is beautiful
Its a sad to see such beauty on the out side and not knowing ugliness going on the inside

Hello Friend,
It's a lovely piece of Biographical Poetry transparently depicting its theme.
Impressive and perfectly matching the theme phraseology.
Smooth, spontaneous, and captivating flow throughout from the beginning to the end.
All the Assaults, particularly the last one - Remarkable INDEED.
Best of Luck!

RP this is our national shame... people are thrown away... when they enter these places they it is for temporary or often long term maintenance and nothing more they stabilize ad throw people back out on the streets... no mentally ill person is going continue any regime... My Mom was sent there twice... Unbelievable... thanks for the wonderful plus one review and for reading...

You certainly meet the criteria, a poem telling a story. This was very poignant. I love the image of lovely on the outside, but oh...Living hell on the inside. Good luck in your contest. Bill

There have been horror tales from many of these types of institutions, (one wonders who the mental cases are, the inmates or the "carers". Beautfully fully wriitten in free verse with stages. Thanks for the comprehensive notes, about the handsome building that weeps. Well done, blessings, Roy

I worked in a Minnesota State Hospital previously know as the State School For The Feebleminded. Then in the eighty's it was called, " The Regional Center". In the ninety's it to was transformed into a prison. The ten years I worked at the State Hospital, I always kept in mind "Reincarnation". What if, in the next life, I switched places with one of the residents with whom I worked? If I wasn't always kind, I did try very hard to be respectful. In the event that I do comeback in the next life, I'm hoping my plan works. It's just a matter of luck who ends up where. Best wishes.

Hey Victor... You know of what I speak I see. It is a national disgrace and nightmare. they are used as warehouses to keep people the gentle folk don't want to be bothered with...

There were people institutionalize that shouldn't have been there. The critical residents needed more than just maintenance care. I think things have changed some in fifty years. But that doesn't change the fact that more needs to be done.

Pretty graphic. Feel, smell, hear, assaults the senses right off. Then the emotional slam me and pull on my heart. Well done. The pretty picture conflicts with the poem. Was that on purpose?

The best kind of savior is one who suffers themselves...they understand better then anyone else. Some people go through their whole lives without finding that savior. Thanks for sharing.

I agree Boogienights and I always prayed that my Mother would be blessed when she died with peace and joy and I still hope that to this day...

This poem, Chattahoochee Mental Hospital, finds the tactile features of an institution, mixing with the psychological, in this visit to the mind of one who resides in a mental facility.

What an interesting and detailed account of a patient's fears and anxieties inside this mental hospital. Your true story so filled with suspense with touch of amusement but mostly anger and fear. WELL DONE. Read mine, also. liberty justice

A touching write, having to endure the wails of sufferings by other, taking on aggression to encounter something new to me. I found myself labeled, framed by white clothes strangers pretense of adequate care. All in my opinion of this work.
