A very well-written Frost format poem. It seems the weather patterns are totally out of control all over the world. We can speculate and have our own conclusions but only God knows exactly what is the cause of the chaotic weather conditionws. A beautiful icecold photo.

Thank you Sandra. Agreed. Only God controlls the weather, though mankind is trying to eat from the tree of knowledge to control it.

Good afternoon, Tom

Thank you for your notes. The balance of nature is very finely tuned. Take the dung beetle away, or the vulture or the woodlands, and the dynamic of those environments is altered. Now look at the grander scale and consider the human's never-ending impact on the planet and Bob's ya aunty; things begin to go tits-up. I disagree wholeheartedly that global warming is anything other than man's greed.

The problem, of course, is that if we don't take heed of what many scientists are telling us, it will be too late in the day to do anything about it by the time our climate is completely screwed. Is that a risk worth taking? Or would you rather we all just carry-on regardless and disregard the future of mankind? There is no planet two!

You have kids and grandchildren. What if the scientists are right?

kind regards

tracey :)

This is a very good poem. Data can be manipulated by both sides. Obviously something is causing the polar ice caps to melt. Whatever the cause, we can limit our impact so why shouldn't we?

Thank you TheStoryman. No issue with that that, as long as the efforts are reasonable. We should do our best not to pollute, and to be good conservationists. It's just that those caps might keep melting whatever we do. In fact they have been melting for the last 10,000 years. There used to be a glacier over half of North America.

Yes, there were glaciers over half of North America during the Ice Age. Now polar bears are finding less ice and may die off which as an animal lover saddens me. I think we should do what we can to limit our impact on the earth.

I have heard this scientific argument before. It was aired on our own supposedly reliable TV and then went away, seemingly disappeared like a revolutionary faction in some banana republic. Here you are bringinging it up again. Keep glancing over your shoulder, Tom, the global Warming Gestapo could be looking for you at this very minute.

What depresses me is not that it is true nor that it isn't but that the powers that be are still trying to manipulate scientific observation in th much the same way as the holy Inquisition did when they forced Galileo to recant on his statement that the earth moved round the sun.

A splendid poem which has been based on well researched information. Thank you for sharing this research.
I'm sure this debate will rage for quite some time to come and facts, figures and outcomes will be manipulated to benefit the few and not necessarily the masses.
The world is indeed a volatile mix of ever changing weather events currently and perhaps for some time ahead.
Blessings
Shirley

A very interesting post, with rhyming in your well thought-out stanzas...I did read your notes too...I'm not a scientist, nor will I deny that man, and his desires, have had some interference with how weather has changed through the years.

There are pros and cons on the idea of climate change. I do believe we, as human, have had something to do with it.

I recall a simple saying that I came across, it says...With progress comes changes...I do believe that.

Thanks for sharing this with us, it was an interesting read.

Warm Regards,
Victoria

Interesting poem Treishchel, with copious author notes, too, you've gone to a lot of trouble. Yes, I have seen that America is freezing its buns off. But it was the same back in the 1800's and records have not been kept for very long historically speaking, a mere blip, really, so who knows? I think it is hype and nothing is new, but that is only my opinion. But as you say in the poem, people rant on.

Perhaps all the livestock we use to feed our faces are farting too much, hahaaha. And the cure for climate change would be for us to all be vegetarian, vegan, perhaps. I liked your poem and the topic is controversial, but you deal with it very nicely. Thanks, Selena Worthington.

Your poem has a good message. I'm grateful for the explanation of the poem's structure. I knew it has a good rhythm but couldn't clearly see why. Personally, I can't see how man's actions can change the weather. It seems to be an egotistical stance.

You did a great job with this poem dealing with climate change. I especially liked how you brought in the woolly mammoths. I haven't heard about them in a while. And keep on writing!

I must admit I'm neither a believer or non believer, I just don't trust human observations, so when they line up 50-5o, there's even more reason for me to doubt. So thank you for this. Although we've had the highest single day temperature recorded in January, plus the highest average for this month nationally, I'm still a sceptic, beautifully writen, I do admire your versatility, well done, good job, blessjngs, Roy
