EEEkkkk...a nicely descriptive story of domestic abuse. As a reader, you took me on the journey of emotions...feeling confused/conflicted about involving police, and then relieved she was safe. A whopper of a good ending. A nicely written "final words" story. Good luck in the contest.

The setting of the scene clear and the circumstances well described. Your story leaves me with enough information to fill in what has not been written. The ending leaves me to believe you either died or you survived to tell your story to help another so they don't become a victim. A life lesson unfolded.
