Your poem is written on a timely topic. What woman needs 9 months to determine she doesn't want her own child? We aren't civilized if murdering babies. A woman knows she's pregnant almost right away. We women say we want control over our own bodies, but being responsible for our behavior is the best control we can have.
I'm not in favor for your plan. It throws money at women to have more babies. With your plan the problem would be compounded. Women would have babies just for the money. With our world population escalating, we need fewer people, not more.
Better to give women free birth control so they don't get pregnant in the first place. There are so many birth control options NOT to get pregnant. Maybe they don't know that having sex makes babies ~ who knows. Marilyn

Thank you Marilyn for you well considered comments. I believe that having some women having babies for money is much better than what is going on now. Given the numbers of abortion, birth control isn't working.

Hi Treischel. I disagree. The only reason birth control isn't working is because women don't use it--all the while screaming like banshees that it's their body and they do whatever they want. Present generations don't have the stigma of illegitimate kids like there has been in the past. Instead, the more kids they have, the more money they get. It's a free for all out there. At some point rational people consider that personal responsibility has to enter into it. The failure of family structure has made it OK to carry babies full term and murder them. I'm definitely against paying women to have more babies they don't want and be rewarded by paying them off. Marilyn

I think you proposed a pretty good solution. It is not enough just to outlaw abortion - that would incarcerate some of these kids in a pretty horrible life. Much food for thought in this one

Thank you Douglas. Certainly the amounts can be tweaked, but it incentive to give birth is a start. There a lot of couples that would adopt, and I provided an incentive to deliver a healthy baby. If the mother keeps it, she would have a small nest egg to help in addition to havingcost of the birth covered.

I detest the practice of abortion, Tom. I think if you're man enough to plant your seed, or woman enough to spread your legs, you outta pony up, grow up and take responsibility for your actions.
However, and I say this with utmost respect for you and your ideals, I feel when we allow government access to what happens within our own bodies we are opening up an entire, just as dire, can of worms.
I read a recent statistic which basically showed how mankind is aborting itself into extinction.
Perhaps that is what we deserve.
Kudos to you for having the intestinal fortitude to stand up for what you believe in.

Thank you for posting this. I will never understand this senseless killing of innocent children and the attitude that it is the "Mother's body" so she has a choice.
What about the baby's body? Shouldn't the child have a say? It is murder, plain and simple.
