I admire your conviction.
I...agree with you.

There will be a lot of I's
in this review. Although
one could argue too many I's
can be a good indication of
Narcicism (sp), I just find
my radar screen too small.

I...made this error when
younger.
I...was educated in biology.
My major in college.

I couldn't be bothered with
my own progeny's life at
the time.

I have burned in my own
hell since.

Yes, I now feel much differently.

But now, it's too late.

One day I shall meet my self-
slaughtered offspring.

I may burn forever.

What will I say?

Sorry?

I hear your shout out, understanding the unjust acts defined, vomiting in its history written path. I hold the thought can we stop hell? Don't we need Jesus? All in my opinion of this particular write.

Even if I didn't agree with your message, I would still think this was so well-written and expressive. I absolutely love your descriptive word choices ("holocaust of the innocent," "flower of our future.") and applaud your spotlighting the irony of sanctimonious outcries against Aztec sacrifices when our own society does likewise, just under the umbrella of "choice." Searingly excellent piece here.

This poem is exceptionally powerful in its political and social message. It's thrums with humanity but also controversy, which is a brave risk to take as no doubt you will come up against some folk who disagree with you. I cannot imagine ever wishing to abort a child, so appreciate your sentiment and think it is a very important issue. My favourite part is 'my heart cries out for this holocaust of the innocent, the flower of our future'. This line is particularly powerful and emotive. I also like how you used capitals to enhance your overall message. You made this poem even more personal to you by using an image of your own granddaughters sonogram. I'm guessing that made this poem even more poignant and important for you. Great job at raising awareness and speaking out for what you believe in.

Thank you Hayley. You are one of the few who discussed the poetry itself, rather that just commenting on the content.. I very much appreciate your review and comments. It was a personally emotional for me, as my granddaughter Niccole, gave birth to a great-granddaughter on Wednesday. Back in 1977, my wife and I considered having an abortion, because it was both of our's second marriage and we each had had two children already I had said that I didn't want any more. We ultimately decided that a child conceived in love must be born. We named her Aisha, which is a name that means "Life."

Dear Tom

An interesting write from your standpoint on the question of abortion.

I think we have to think carefully about what we ask for. The idea that the powers that be in office should be allowed to dictate what women can and cannot do with her own body, is a terrifying thought.

I appreciate the fact that you disagree with abortion being a means of convenience for some, we must remember, however, that many women often have good reasons to abort their bodies of an unwanted pregnancy.

Imagine this if you will. Let's say that a wave of society, namely women, were sick and tired of men, leaving them to fend for themselves after getting pregnant, and the government made a law that these men would have to have their balls chopped off!

This sound crazy to you, but the result is the same. Or that if you have a serious injury that prevented you from going to work, they could euthanize you. See where I'm coming from?

Be careful what ya wish for, my friend.

My body is mine, and I'll be buggered if I'll allow some stranger in a shirt n tie, tell me what I can and cannot do with my womb!

Cheers tracey

Thank you tracy. I hear your argument, though taking an innocent life hardly compares. This is an issue of morality, not compunction. I agree that there are some few circumstances that make a valid case. There aren't 50,000,000 such cases. Did you bother to read my notes where I suggested an alternative? I suggested a monetary incentive to bring the child to term.

reply by trimple on 03-Feb-2019
Money should not come into it, Tom

There are enough unwanted kids that need money and health and school and clothes and food.... Use the money on the ones we already have.

reply by trimple on 03-Feb-2019
The question, Tom, is, whose morality are you talking about? What is it that you are going to end the plight of so many desperately in need.

    Sorry, Tom

Ok Tracey. I guess were can't agree on this issue. But I respect your opinion.

    My dear friend, Tom

I can appreciate the fact that you feel so strongly about this issue is born out of 'your own' experiences, but you can't dictate what's best for others. No matter how difficult it may seem to you. We can never allow a Nazi-like dictatorship again. I don't to suggest that you are in any way a Nazi, but this kind of mindset is what the Nazi's ended up doing. Dictating and taking away the human rights of others.

    kind regards

Oh Tracey, The Nazi's murdered 3 Million men, women, and children. We have murdered 68,000,000 innocent children to date. NO COMPARISON.
reply by trimple on 03-Feb-2019
Again, Tom. Numbers are irrelevant. We must never allow the government to take over to such an extent. Your views on this matter are not in the best interests of the child after it's born.

I fully appreciate your work and feel equally angry regarding our (humanity) indifference to our fellow man who is suffering on this earth today.

Your poem works, works enough to get me stirred enough to stand up for fellow
human beings of all ages climbing into rowing boats in an effort to escape War.

Abortion HORRIBLE, Mans inhumanity to man HORRIBLE. I know you will understand my message.

You are very brave to speak out so bluntly about this issue. Human life has lost its sacred value in more than this heinous happening. As an older person I often wonder if society will decide we are not worthy of breath. "The came for the Jews but I was not a Jew, so I did nothing"... "All it takes for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing. I applaud you for bringing this awful war to light of day.

My heart goes out too and you express your opinion well. This is a heated debate from both sides at times but you have managed to remain eloqent in your delivery.
I think those that are ill informed go a way to skewing the truth of the matter but I feel it is an individual's right to do what is right for their body and no one government or organisation or person should tell them either way, what they have to do and how they should deal with the consequences of those actions.
This is a delicate topic for sure. Well done with your post. I think some don't even get involved in the actual arguement for fear of retribution from the other side. Amongst my faves of your word choices was:

the flower of our future,
discarded

Thoughtfully directed and packs a profound punch.
"Discarded" is a perfect description

Cheers P

In my opinion, a verse well conceived and articulated in thought and conviction, but again, in my opinion, too broad in resolution - there are always issues of merit on both sides, and each situation must be assessed individually. To abort as a method of birth control is wrong in all cases and must be eliminated, period! That is murder!

Heartrending. For some of us, abortion was FORCED upon us. For women like me, that grief stays with me every day. I fought and fought for the right to keep my child. The second I knew I was with child I bonded with it. There was instant joy and a need to protect. Sadly my mental illness means the pills I was taking caused severe birth deformities, although I stopped them the moment I knew. I was told I would be alone, by the father and by all my family if I went ahead...I would be alone with my 'Situation' and I still think of her every day. I really liked your ideas and think late stage abortions are horrendous. I will never stop grieving or regretting 22 years later. Respectfully I therefore give this a strong five. kind regards Meia
