The topic of the contest was to write about an object that we cherish. Free verse is the ability to write smooth and flowing poetry without rhyme and meter... something I lack the capacity to do. Your writing is beautiful other than the topic. I made this same mistake when I first started writing on FanStory. Be sure to read the rules of the contests that you enter.
