Bill,
Lots of folks will endorse this radical approach to enjoying one's life after a career. But, I still keep in touch with my retiree buddies for lunch every week - 'medical' hour, sports, politics, family, and a few beers seem to be often on our weekly menu.

Love your retirement.
Comment from Y. M. Roger
Oh how I long for that day!! Even stepping down to part time does not seem like enough especially on weeks like this! :) Blessings! Please forgive the 'tardiness' of my response -- first week back always sucks away any 'spare time' I may have on a regular basis. :) Take care - Yvette :)

If youre retired what are you going back to, real life? Cool graphic you chose to accompany the poem. . What makes retirement so radical? Very nice job.

A vacation that never ends. Radical!
Comment from Dawn Munro
That is sure one thing that's great about retirement (even when forced). NO MORE ALARM CLOCK, and leisure activities. I can't say I miss working one bit, although the social interaction, the feeling of accomplishment is a bit more difficult to achieve...
Good poem!

That could describe any vacation I ever took form work until the day that I actually retired. As good and enjoyable as many of my jobs were, I never had a job that was so good and enjoyable that I was in a hurry to get back to it.

I went back part-time a year after retiring and I am now considering going back full time. Call me crazy, but working is a feel good for me. Have a great day!

I retired from the Marines twenty years ago and from public education two years ago. One is too fast paced for me now and other is the Titanic.
Comment from Dean Kuch
Good alliteration in your second line, Bill.
My father hated retirement. Work provided his joy in life. Well, that, and fishing.
I would give anything to be able to go back to work. However, my heart condition being what it is it's just not possible, unless I receive a heart transplant.
I'm almost 60. There are much younger people than I out there who also need a healthy heart. How vain would I be if I were to deprive them of the opportunity to live a long and happy life?
Nicely done, Bill.

I actually miss the Marines until I wake up in cold sweats. Not PTSD, just dreams about surprise inspections when I?m drunk and in my underwear. I?d give you my heart, Dean, but my wife keeps it in a bag with my spine.

Hahahaha.
No worries, I'm good...

What a cute picture of the smiley face guy taking it easy by the beach. I admire VMarguarite's work. Radical retirement--interesting description. If you want this to be a 5-7-5, I think your second line has six syllables. Maybe retirement is having that effect. judi

I totally agree an often defend the one-syllable pronunciation. I plead lack of attention to detail as I launched this at a coupl3 minutes to midnight.

Too many people rushing out of the starting gate. I can't keep up and am not even trying to. judi

I counted 5-7-5 syllable poem. I can't imagine anyone not agreeing with this poem unless they have OCD and working is a requirement of their mind. Love the artwork!
