Hi Melissa and you are the bravest of all the souls still! I love that you wrote this with this photo/illustration. I am trying to catch up to all the writing I missed as I come across it all - and I want to congratulate you on the win. This is a great combination of a picture with words and vice versa. Cheers, Fonda

Thanks so much, Fonda. I am glad you like it. It does take bravery to write... just look at Meeshu and his Catholic piece!! Much appreciated.

Yes I know I cannot respond to that at the moment because it will bring up too many personal other things for me that I am not ready to divulge in FS so I have to compartmentalize for the time being. I think he is extraordinary and I hope that he is able to weather the storm. He has my support and love and kindness always. Cheers, Fonda

Looking out of oneself can be very brave and inspiring. But also looking inside and writing from deep in your heart is as brave. It is a wonderful piece of artwork that melds well with the words.
Congrats of placing third in the contest.
Keep writing

Thank you, Joan. I wrote that at the beginning of the New Year and thought of how we look forward into the future and some of us have to be brave to write about what we see. Thank you so much for the review.

Good words, Melissa. It appears that you write when someone opens themselves up or the ideas come from the soul in their eyes. I have to watch what I write because what I write are feelings stirred in a moment. This is a good entry for the 20 Syllable contest.

Great combination of words and artwork. Good advice too. Open a window in your mind and let inspiration fly in. I so enjoy all your work, and boy, are you busy...I smile when I see a new post from you.

Dolly, I wish for your 2019... open windows that bring in fresh breezes, new ideas and a fresh spirit as you write... Your lovely sonnets are always a delight to read, but with your talent, I look forward to all the forms you choose to write.

"Observe and write" - a pithy summation of the craft if ever there was one. I like the idea - your illustration adds an extra flavor of positivity to your invitation. Good luck in the contest.

I've been sitting outdoors, writing in an old cemetery these last few days, Melissa.
The weather here in Ohio has been so mild lately. It's only about a mile from my home, and it's so peaceful there.
Then, whatever I've written the "old-fashioned way", with pen and paper, I come home, fire up my computer and transfer the words to my word processor.
When I want to get into my "Poe Mode", I turn off all the lights, my television, and the stereo, light one black candle and one white one and begin to write.
You'd be surprised what you can channel when writing in total silence by candlelight alone.
Good luck to you in the 20 Syllable Poetry contest.
