Exceptional
This work has reached the exceptional level

I am very happy for you that this placed first. I can see why as this does an exceptional job at capturing how we do not see ourselves as we truly look. Awesome job.

Dear Emilia Thank you for your review and the awesome SIX stars. This piece was written on a day when I was not in a good place and I felt lost, old and alone. The mood has (thankfully) departed, but the words remain. I am glad they resound with you. cheersCass

Dear Sally, Thank you for your review and the five stars for MirroredMemories. This was written some years ago when the first lines of encroaching age made themselves apparent on my face. These days I am more resigned to the approach of being old, and believe the lines tell a story. My story, unique and special. I am glad to have lived this long and to have done all the things I have done.
Although the bucket list is still not entirely crossed off yet. cheers Cass

Dear Rob,Thank you for your review and the five stars. Thank you also for becoming my fan. I intend to reciprocate in kind. I have had a quick look at the first chapter of the book you are presently writing and I don't know how it has escaped my attention up until now. I have some catching up to do that I'm going to enjoy no end. If I comment on past chapters I'll probably let you know by PM. Cheers Cass

Cass, this is a wonderful poem. I'm so sorry that I didn't even know it was posted. That's the problem with blind contests, we're not notified when posted. Congratulations on winning the contest. I especially like and identify with the last stanza. Great job. Worthy of a sixer, but I'm out. Hugs, Marilyn

Dear Mystery Poet,

Hey there! This post was so refreshing to read this morning - thank you! *smile* I've read several entries for this contest over the last couple days and must say, with all honesty, that yours is far and above the best I've seen so far.

Besides the fact that your message is so relatable - it is also expressed well and reads quite smoothly. I enjoyed this very much. Good luck!

A good aabb rhyme scheme and evenly metered rhymed quatrains give this Mirror Poem prompt entry the edge for the win in this contest, at least as far as I am concerned.
Time goes by so quickly, doesn't it?
Best enjoy it while we can.
Best of luck, Anonymous Poet.

Wow, this is very good. I love the artistic artwork. It sets the mood of the piece so well. You don't use large words but, your message is tasteful and clearly done. You show a refreshing honesty, with words that tell, a meaning, profound in its entirety. I love the repeated phrase, with a slight difference, at the end of every verse. The ending is touching and moved me. I can relate to the changes in a person's life, and who they still see, in the mirror, is the young person with dreams and ambitions. Well written and thoughtful in its scope.
Take care, Jesse

I avoid mirrors. Someone stole all my mirrors and replaced them with pictures of an old man. This is an excellent contest entry and will do well in the voting booth.

Dear Thomas, thank you for your review and the five stars. Strange about all your mirrors though. For years when I was a child I rarely looked in mirrors, because they never showed the right reflection. It was always some plain, poorly dressed, rag haired kid that I saw. It wasn't until I was well into teenaged years that the mirror began to show someone I could relate to. Now I see the reflection of a seventy plus woman with all the wisdom of life in her eyes. It isn't as bad as it might be. cheers Cass

Hello Author, Happy New Year! I think I know that girl... She's in here somewhere... under all this extra weight there used to be this cute girl, (before they changed my meds and I blew up like a tick!) Well, I suppose I should be grateful for the boobs at least! I went from flat-as-a-wall, to... well, NOT! LOL What I fully appreciated 30 years ago, up top, is now sagging toward the bottom and I'm finding myself wishing for what was... that nothing I used to have would never have sagged... there wouldn't have been anything TO sag! LOL, Ah, well, the life of a woman... Do you know why it is that when men go gray they're "distinguished" and when women go grey they're "old?" Wish I knew!!! Good luck with the contest!

Dear Susan, Thank you for your review and the five stars. Happy New Year to you too.Your comments are a delight. I love a sense of humor!! The question about men and women going grey is age old ( no pun intended) but just think of all the hairdressers and firms selling hair dye that flourish because of it. The "Meds" Oh yes "The meds". Don't they stuff things up in large lumps? I hate having to take stuff that messes my body around. Fortunately the things I must take don't have any secondary effect . So far so good. Anyway, have a great day. cheers Cass

And it goes by so quickly! The aging process is a reality we all have to face, head on, hopefully leading us to consider life beyond the grave. This was done so well, especially as we all can relate to these kinds of thoughts and the challenges that come with them. Keep up the great writing!

Dear Marc Thank you for your review and the five stars. Yes life is swift and over so quickly, but we must make as much of it as we can while we can. "For soon comes night in sabled guise" and we close our eyes in eternal rest. cheers Cass
