How fun! Thank you for sharing your culinary adventures! You made it all sound so yummy! I preferred my crawdads in an etoufee over rice. So glad you knew how to enjoy and how fun you had regular potlucks.

Ah, bet you didn't know this but if you spell it like "M, i, double s, i, double s, i, double p, i " you are immediately found out as a Canadian! When they tested to see if anyone was a Canadian trying to illegally get into the US, they would ask him/her to spell Mississippi. Americans would say each letter - not "double" ð???

Question:
"After a couple of months in the area for a couple of years, " (not sure if you were there months or years?)

One grammar point:
when it is share between two people (shared)

There were other places I would have written one word instead of two like "whatever" and "takeout." But those are minor

Thank you Helen for reviewing. I did not know that about Mississippi, it was just a 'trick' I learned in school, proves I'm Canadian lol. I did fix those suggestions before I replied, thank you.

I should imagine those crawfish are really fine eating but those burgers will do you no good whatsoever. Yummy though.

I suggest the first sentence of the second paragraph should read 'We met with another field supervisor (who shall remain nameless) promoted at the same time as Jim.' Because as written it looks as though Jim was remaining nameless.

I always thought that river should be spelled Mrs Sippy. Seems more logical don't you think?

Thank you so much for reading, reviewing and your great comments and suggestions. I will make that change in a moment. I do actually think your suggestion about the river does make sense lol, although I don't think they will change it. Good grief now I will constantly be thinking of Mrs Sippy lol.

Oh, yeah -- you can't beat a big tray of crawfish and a couple of Dixie beers! :) ;) Course, nowadays, probably Abita would be the beer choice down 'round there, but oh my goodness you made me hungry, too! :) ;) Be sure to pop back in there and add a 'y' to Edmond's - Mr. Tobasco's - name (E. McIlhenny). :) :) :) Enjoyed, as always, ma'am -- Happy New Year Blessings to you and Jim! :) Yvette :)

I have heard about your crawfish though I don't have a clue about it. I just know we don't have any! Unless they are under another name. The preparation for dining sounds very like our prawns, pull the head off, devein, and shell it and voila' That are usually eaten with lemon juice. Are your crawfish salt water or fresh water? How big do the grow? I could apologize for all the questions, but this way you know I have read it! Love U Anne Happy New Year.

Thank you Anne for reading, reviewing and your great questions. The crawfish are fresh water and for the better part are the side product of the rice fields of the south but they are also found wild in the swamp areas (the ones I had were from the rice fields). They will fit in your palm, which is why it takes so many to fill you lol. They are dumped live like lobsters are into a pot of boiling water which has been spiced. They also have shrimps here which are similar to but smaller than your prawns. Here you can use lemon juice or a hot sauce like Tabasco. They are yummy. Welcome to 2019 my friend, my sister, to another great year of writing. Luv u Alie

Well Alie , if I wasn't hunger I know I should be now. The thing is I know about Crawfish and I have use them but for bait. I have never ever tasted them. I am glad you like them. I guess I'll try them one of these day. Maybe next year. :) Have a Happy New Year.

Thank you Jose for reading, reviewing and your delightful comment. Lol I was like you and used them for bait until I learned how to cook them and eat them. Cooking is similar to that of a full grown lobster, a boiling pot of water and spices. New years blessing to you and yours, yeaaaa its here lol.

Alie,

*smile* Don't you just LOVE the names of some Southern cities? I love this Frog City name, and I think we may have a little place in Alabama named FrogTown, if I'm remembering correctly. So fun! Just makes you wonder what they were thinking, doesn't it?

This was highly entertaining, for the most part - you still haven't convinced me to join you folks that eat crawdads, though. Uh UH! I grew up with those critters and know how nasty they can be. yuck.

Some other notes, if I may?
1.) Every time I say that or type it, I remember from school the trick to do so correctly.
--> what are you referring to, and what's your trick?

2.) it provided some interesting evenings and weekend(s)

3.) Wednesday('s) special was my favorite(:) a one-inch breaded deep-fried pork chop
--> suggest: a one-inch (thick) deep-fried (breaded) pork chop with coleslaw...

Thanks for sharing - sounds fun!

Thank you so much Robyn for reading, reviewing and your great comments and suggestions, I will make to corrections in a moment. I did not put it in the story, but the history behind the name is that twice a year they are literally swamped with frogs, like the roads are covered with crushed ones. The little community has at least 37 statutes of various sizes of frogs, that was how many I managed to count lol and I am sure there are more. Happy New Years to you and yours.

Hi Alie. This is a well written piece on one of my favorite topics--food! Since I'm vegetarian, I skimmed over the parts that related to eating critters. Your lifestyle and traveling adventures are so well done and fascinating for the reader. Great job. Hugs, Marilyn

Thank you Marilyn for reading, reviewing and your kind comments, sorry about the food part given your choice but since then I have drifted more and more to non critter protein lol. It just doesn't appeal to me and if I am out I go for salads or vegetable based soups. Who knows I may get there one day. Glad you enjoy.
