He may have been new to driving a bus like that in the rain. I'm sure if he's had a bad experience or new to driving in the rain, it can be quite terrifying. You did a great job with this.

He is an owner driver so I figure if he had the money and I know he is not short of a quid he would have had the experience before. He is pretty slack in a lot of ways. More dollars than sense methinks. Thanks for the lovely review.

It's good that you have these Wheelchair taxis now that you no longer have a car. You do have to adjust to the drivers, though. If the traffic lights were out, that would be a problem. This reads very smoothly and keeps its focus all the way through. Interesting insight into the driver. Happy New Year to you. judi

Judi the drivers are like chalk and cheese. Some of them are so lovely and obliging and outgoing. Some talk on their phones the whole time you are with them (in Pakistani language of course...but that fellow has been told by his colleagues not good etiquette and he is improving... the same nervous guy in rain.) Some of them love their vehicles and clean them up beautifully some are slack and untidy having to move stuff off the front seat so I can sit there, with Louise in back of course. I might write an article and put some pictures of our two favourite...well 2 of...there are about 4 or 5 we really like... drivers on the story.

Sounds like a good subject. Best of luck with your writing in 2019. judi

You have raised the question in my mind--Do we have wheelchair taxis in Birmingham? Surely we do, but I have never seen them. You amaze me with your wonderful spirit. Your days must be very hard sometimes.
Thanks for sharing and opening our eyes a little.

I am sure you have Wheelchair taxis around, We are even in the process of getting an Opal Card for Louise (Geoff talking here) and having a go at getting her on and off buses that have no steps or on the suburban trains. Thanks for coming by.

I'm not so sure. Alabama has almost no mass transportation. I will seriously look into this.

Ji Debbie well Alabama was always a bit behind remember Driving Miss Daisy and Morgan Freeman driving Jessica Tandy the Negro and the Jew and the attitude of the patrolmen...I thinik Al is in some cases still back in the Dark ages...behind the times. Let me know. Will write a story about our drivers and stuff soon.

Hello Geoff
for telling us about the taxi driver for some reason, because, of the rain, there could be danger driving in such bad conditions, for himself you and Louise.

Gert his nerves were really obvious and it did not help us that he had a problem but God looked after us. Thanks for the review

I hope you drop by and read my poem
My Childhood Memories.
Thank you Gert

I suppose I do not blame him for being nervous about the welfare of his disabled passenger. I have enough trouble with just getting my walker in and out of cabs, and we don't get much rain in Southern California. Have a peaceful New Year- Joan

Thanks Joan it was heavy rain in places I guess the Lightning strikes on two sets of traffic lights was an acceptable reason for nerves but it was quite obvious and we have never had that experience with taxi drivers before.

Here's to calm, taxi drivers, regardless the conditions- Joan

I like your short story that shares the fears we can all have over stressful situations. Good job on a believeable tale that has a bit of flair too. Happy New Year, and best wishes for 2019!!
