Hi Dawn, I'm so sorry about your loss of your Dear friend Mae. And she died just after your last Christmas together. A very poignant poem, beautifully written. Merry Christmas, Dawn. Warm regards. Ulla:)))

A poignant poem about the hurt of losing a much-loved friend. And, as you point out so well, it's even worse around the holidays season, when we are expected to be joyous and happy. That's hard when it's the exact time we're reminded of sad events.
Very well written, Dawn -- fine job.

Thank you very much, Craig. Wishing you and yours a very Merry Christmas! (You can say what you want about glitches and so on at FanStory -- and I do, LOL -- but there's something pretty special about this site. It's the friends one makes!)

I am so sorry for the loss of your friend, Dawn. She looks like a very nice lady. She had you for a friend and you seem dedicated to her. For those who are shut-ins and/or have no one to call a friend is very sad. We all need someone. Hugs to you, Dawn. Marilyn

Mae never married. She was a fruit farmer, and lived her whole life with two brothers. They had both passed away, and yes, she was probably lonely, though you would never know. Not only was this a woman who never raised her voice, never had ANYTHING to say about anyone that wasn't good, she wasn't a complainer, either. I loved her very much. Most people could benefit greatly by being anything like her, IMO .
Now I have to go... Merry Christmas, my friend.

This is so beautifully written and knowing she passed away after you spent Christmas with her is deeply moving and so very sad. To be old and lonely is one of my biggest fears, I can handle the lonely part but combining it with being old is so difficult for so many people. I am sure she was pleased to have you as a friend.

Such a sweet tribute to your friend and a great reminder to all to keep in touch with those who are shut-in or kept from fellowship. I wondered why the "two or more won't gather" because wouldnt she pray for them to gather?

? Yes, she would pray, but that doesn't mean the prayer would be answered as she wanted it to be answered. God answers all prayer, but not always the way WE want (or when we want the answer. This is a true story, lyenochka, dear.)
Thanks for your lovely review. Merry Christmas.

Thank you for sharing your tribute to a dear friend. I appreciate your adding her photograph and the fact that you had one more Christmas season together. I admired your alternating rhymes and focusing on the sense of "isolation". Peace- Joan

A sadly beautiful and almost soul-wrenching write, Dawn -- I know you dedicated this your friend, but your message should ring loud and clear across the 'airwaves'... season's not just for celebrating with warmth and family we already know and have...thanx for sharing! :) Yvette :)

A very well-written poem about the briefness of our lives. We still talk today and tomorrow one of the pair is gone forever and the other has to hold up the jolly face and hide the loneliness we are facing.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I lost a friend like that four years ago. Friends like that are few and far between. Lovely tribute to a special person.
