Hindsight is always 20/20, judester.
If we knew beforehand all the mistakes we'd be making in our lives, how uninteresting would our lives truly be?
Thanks for sharing this fine five-line poetic piece of wisdom.
Good luck in your contest.

What a delight to receive a review from Dean. I figured it might ease the sting of regret for those saddled with bad choices. Jeez, you'd need an IMAX screen to do mine justice. I do hope that everything is going great with you Dean. I wish you all the best for Christmas and the New Year. Your friend in prose, Judy

Beautiful poem, beautiful artwork. Thank you for such a deep thought of how we can feel at times and also so colorful at the same time. I appreciate the sentiment of this poem immensely. Cheers, Fonda

Thanks for the encouraging review Fonda. I figured all those people that regret the bad choices in their lives might find solace that all those jagged and colorful (haha) memories could be turned into art...retro art. If you put all my mistakes and bad choices in a kaleidoscope you would need IMAX screen. kidding... Have a lucky day, cheers, j

I would need something larger than an IMAX screen I am looking at space station size kaleidoscopes (multiples) LOL. Thanks for sharing. Cheers, Fonda

I like how "broken" and "pieces" are on separate lines, visually demonstrating the concept. The kaleidoscope metaphor for life is absolutely fantastic and hopeful. It's nice to think that all the messiness can be a work of art in the end.

Thanks for the insightful review Connie. I guess I was thinking of people with regret for the bad choices throughout their lives.. Making all those unique and sometimes colorful (haha) mistakes into art, will perhaps take some sting out of the pain. Your circus, your monkeys...
Cleaning a huge log cabin in preparation for my in-laws coming for Christmas. I will decorate the two mantles with boughs, and some cool sprigs of little balls on long thin sticks that I found on my walk beside the pond. I put silver sparkle paint and blue sparkles, then I have blue fabric with lights that I will drape onto the boughs and balls.Instead of red and green (ho ho ho hum) it will be blue and silver. Whose the clever monkey now? Wish you a lucky day, cheers, judester

I love the AHA in your closing line, which nudges this poem up a level. The kaleidoscope of life is a cliche image (a good one, nonetheless) but your closing line gives it fresh oomph. That's not easy to do! Bravo!
This is voiced with lucid intensity. Fine presentation too.
A contender, I imagine! Good luck!

Oh how I love to receive a happy review from you, and an extra star? I am over the moon ha ha. I know the kaleidoscope image is well worn, but I was thinking of people regretting their choices. Those bad choices and mistakes can be seen as part of the design when all is said and done. I wish you and those that surround you a warm and wonderful Christmas and a powerful new year. Year of the pig! oink. Your friend in prose, judester.

Yay! Thanks for your enthusiastic response. Kaleidoscope is the most fitting image for your theme. :L)
Happy Holidays!

Yeah and takes care of four syllables, hah. I am looking forward to celebrating Christmas after missing the holiday for 22 years. Loving the snow, baking and reconnecting with my cherished ones. Love to you and your Mom. Cheers, j
