Family makes the holidays. I know having four boys kept and still keeps my holidays special. This Christmas one of my boys and his family will be joining us. I can't wait.

have a wonderful time. I wish I could have given Louise kids but sadly not so. Perhaps God knew our health would deteriorate.

You make a valid point with this post. Most of my friends do not have children and Christmas is different for them. I have children but they want nothing to do with me so I consider myself a person with no children. This definitely affects how I celebrate Christmas.

Thanks my loyal friend. Some really cannot understand childlessness at Christmas or ion your case being cut off from family. We are cut off from my family but Louise's tries.

I am very happy someone has finally said something that I have been thinking for almost five years now. I was a single mom. I have a son, but he has grown and has his family life quite a ways away from me. He has carried on our traditions with his family. When it comes to Christmas it isn't the same, he gets a gift from me and it is uneventful. I rarely do anything special on the day. I do get offered and sometimes dragged into things I would rather not be a part of. There are people who will wait for grandchildren to experience the festivities all over again. I was happy to do it all right the first time around; and now I am leaving it up to my son to do the same for his children. When and if that happens. Thank you for writing something that speaks to me. I love that you are pointing it out and I will use the reverse quote in my next attempt in getting out of something I don't want to do. Cheers, Fonda

Thank you for reminding us that the holidays are not a big deal for everyone, especially if they don't have children or grandchildren. I personally understand, because our son is a forty-two-year-old bachelor. I appreciate your sharing the holiday spirit with your wife's family's old-black-and-white photograph. Keep rambling- Joan

Even if you don't have children, you can be a kid at heart. There all kinds of activities to enjoy. You have family members, and there are church activities for you to enjoy. There are other ways you can be part of the season. I know the children are always the center of attention; they always were in my family. I think you make a good point though about remembering those who don't have children at Christmas time. judi

Thanks Judi I loved your great review. Thanks also for understanding. Some don't. Father in law is finally putt9ing in a ramp at his back door so we can visit over there this year. Had he got a ramp in before this we could have gone over sooner. The power chair cannot go up even a pretty small step. Louise's brother's floor is floating timber so he does not want her very heavy power chair on his precious floor. No matter; we don't want to visit them anyway. Look for the "Our Wish No Fish" IN my Geoff's MUsings " book I think says it all about a few years ago over there.

Thanks Judi we have made our own fun in the last couple of years. Looks like Louise's friend Gail who we have spoken of might wanna do our own Christmas next year perhaps on our Boxing Day (Dec 26th) she lost her mother recently and of course I mentioned her "fun" with her older sister in this Christmas story.

I agree with you Geoff, also, the homeless, the destitute, the handicapped, the elderly, there are so many that may be apart from loved ones, but surely Christmas and life in general was always about giving, even if that was rejoicing with other people's joy, that was not part of your experience. Merry Christmas to you and Louise Geoff, blessings, Roy and Elaine,

Sorry, Geoff, but I think you are exaggerating just a bit here. Quite frankly, as you have worded this article It sounds like you have a personal axe to grind because you don't have children.

I disagree with your statements that some of us "do not have a clue"regarding the real meaning of Christmas. That just isn't so. Everyone knows the true meaning and we do celebrate for
Christ's birth. And yes, we do want our kids to celebrate and we spoil them by giving gifts, but that is just life, my friend.

I have trouble seeing what your point is here, Geoff.

Are you saying people should respect people who have no children at Christmas by doing what exactly??

Well Bob, I guess I can't reach everyone. Thanks for the review anyway. No axe and you could have just skipped if you did not agree.

Again, I only asking, what is your point?

You've shared an opinion here that's rarely shared, but I appreciate that you spoke it. We're all so different and have different wants and needs. That individuality often gets lost in traditions and social pressure. Your message was well written and I enjoyed reading it. Wishing you a happy holiday season.
