Just because we don't have kids doesn't mean it's different. I mean in some sense it is because we don't have to have the children in our house but I still buy for a lot of children. Christmas is suppose to bring everyone together to celebrate and enjoy each other. I know that rarely happens but I hope you're able to have a great Christmas.

Hi Geoff, I can totally understand your words and your sentiments. Although I'm a grandmother twice over and soon to become for the third time, I'm not going to spend the Christmas with them this year. They're in Denmark and I'm in Spain. And we're all fine about that. Next year we will spend it together. This year I'll be with friends and looking forward to it. All best, and Merry Christmas. Ulla:))

Thanks Ulla I have no problem with those who are able and have family that are inclusive and loving and want to have you as part of their lives as often as possible. God Bless your Christmas. If you read some other comments I have made to other reviews you will understand even more what promoted the post.

Hi there,

I can well imagine that your Christmases are much different than those of us who have children and grandchildren.

However, I'm not sure if you are bemoaning that so many of us take such joy in the holiday????

However, I wish you and your lovely wife a wonderful Christmas. I'm sure you will enjoy your church activities.

Thanks Patty. No my point is that some just want us all to be making up the numbers and some delight in being the centre of attention. Some others did not understand my point either you are not alone. Patty we have never been allowed to be a part of the Nephews' and Nieces lives leastways with Louise's family. She was a Great Aunt by marriage before she became an Aunty...even if only in name. Her Nephews and Nieces worship their Mother's Aunt...we don't exist. We have also felt for years stuff has been said in the hearing of the kids to turn them away from us.

It certainly not what it used to be at all.

What has ruined Christmas most, in my opinion, is the hugely gross commercialisation that has taken over as the main thing going on at Christmas. Over here in Germany, Snta chocolates for kids and the kids-at-heart start appearing on the supermarket shelves as early as September. A few years ago, they waited till October. I won't be surprised if it becomes Christmas Season just after Easter, next time around!

Yeah you are spot on they did start the Christmas thing earlier this year than last September I think it was. You might be right about starting after Easter soon. Thanks for the great review.

Being from a clannish family with the parents controlled their brood, I was used to the living parent to plan my Christmas. When both parents had passed, the family pretty much went their own way.

Yeah Bro I think that will happen with Louise's as well. As I posted they lost one of their daughters a year ago and that has changed things. We are happy to do our own thing Father in law finally has decided to get a ramp at their back door so Louise can get into the house in her big heavy power chair, for Christmas. Had he let loose of his purse strings and done it sooner we could have visited over there more, I think you more than anyone understand our situation for mobility and transport and access etc, etc. Lord Bless and thanks mate.

The married are a family and when we are adopted into the body of Christ at conversion, or belief, we are adopted into God's family. Family like you and Geoff. I have a big family, but we always add more to it every year (friends) and we also have those who come and go. We are scattered about the country. We love to celebrate together, talk, eat, open presents and play. It's a time of worship and thankfulness. Our grandkids usually give us a concert and read aloud the Christmas story. It is wonderful. If you and Geoff were here, I would make you part of the days celebrations. My grandkids would kiss and hug you for sure. Rejoice that you are a family and you have a family--the family of God!
Love,
Sally

It is dismal without children. You hit the nail on the head with this post.

Hubby and I have adopted a Chiweenie, She is out baby and she makes the holidays much brighter. (Santa Paws) visits our house now.

A very well-written rambling about Christmas. I agree, although I have children and grandchildren, I feel the real meaning of Christmas got lost somewhere along the road and no one thinks about anything else but the food and gifts.

This is written very well about Christmas and what it seems to mean to some and not so much to others. I am thankful we have three grown sons and one grandson, but I am also more thankful that I know the true meaning of Christmas like you do my friend! Very nice picture you shared. Blessings. Teri

Thanks Sis. Louise's Aunty posted the picture on Facebook and some very unkind people made some bad remarks about it I am glad I never saw what they said. She kindly let me use it for my story.

You are entitled to make this point, Sankey. You did a good job expressing your thoughts/feelings. The picture is great. Your 'ramble' makes sense and there is good flow. Thanks for sharing. Jan

Thanks Jan I know a lot of people will not agree but no worries, I just hope no one marks one down for not agreeing hehe. I have seen folks mark according to whether they agree with the post or not sigh! I am sorry I could not give Louise kids but then maybe God knew our health was gonna deteriorate.
