Aw I miss my dog too. I love the first verse
I love the personification and the sky wearing the sun like a crown.
I love the hug and I hope there's daylight for your puppy
God bless

Thank you Jenny for your very nice review. I hope for daylight to come and scoop my Luna up. She hated the dark.

This is a terrific poem, Charlene and my guess is Luna would be thrilled to see such stately words written for her.

Some excellent turns of phrases here that create vivid images, for example the sun like a golden crown. I can very much relate to that.

Hugs to you too for your little dog.

An excellent work of art.

Gloria

Rest in Peace dear little doggie. In fields of green where butterflies wander
Where sleepy hours in soft light fall,
Where angels lift their harps in music
Gentle voices her name will call.
There is Luna, her race is run,
The Rainbow Bridge led her safely home.
Weep not for her, she is at peace,
In Heaven's gardens now she'll roam.
Dear Friend, these words came "out of thin air" as I read your words about Luna's recent passing. This is a confirmation that your plea for her comfort and happiness
has been noted and answered. She is happy and content and knows that her time had come. May God bless you and yours and in time perhaps, there might be another "furbaby" All the best cheers Cass

Beautiful and so touching sweet Cass that you would be such a comfort. I miss my old girl. She was smart, loving and will always have a place in my heart. Thank you SO much for these kind words. I'm still "stinging" from having to send her home, praying it's not to the darkness she hated.

You have a poetic soul, Charlene. I read your profile, and I love your childhood story. You should write about that. I bet that you have, and I have just missed it.

As to this story, it is such a joy to read aloud. Your rhymes are good and your lines simply flow. I love the swaying of the small dark figure. I like that its name is Dog (and I like Daylight as well). The names give your poem simplicity and honesty. It is light-hearted and gay.

This is just a nice job all around. Good luck in the contest.

Thank you so much Debbie. And you are correct. I've just published my book on Amazon Kindle. I have yet to publish it as a paperback. I've named it "The 13th of Summer" and it tells my parents story which is also my own. We are the prairie people. Again I SO appreciate your kind words.

This is such an eloquent write for your sweet, Lima. I don't know what I'd do if I lost my Lucy. Your writing is soft, delicate and whimsical. It's language is full of hope and light despite the bittersweet content. Your rhyme is smooth, not forced or choppy. The lack of image lends the read to imagine the scene as it plays out twist you two. Thanks for sharing.

And, I'm certain Luna is frolicking longest her furry friends underneath the warmth of a golden sun!
