I really like this piece. I am normally a glutton for punctuation but your line breaks did so I well I was highly impressed.

Yes, such a thankless task, and then they go and flee the nest leaving you feeling flat and exhausted, sapped of energy to fly off to pastures new. A 25 year 'Marshall Plan' and that's by conservative estimates :) Best wishes.

Yes, this pretty much sums it all up in one short poem. Unfortunately, the list tends to grow longer each day - an infinite number of routine tasks indeed. Perfect description of a day in the life of a mom - along with fantastic illustration. Well done.

Your poem describes exactly what a mother does 24/7 and that picture really brings your words to life.

I guess at times we all take our mothers for granted assuming she will always be there for us and then one day she's gone...Take care. Bill

indeed, mothers are irreplaceable. not all mothers though but every mother is someone's mother and we all are born from the womb. we are a mother's gift, it just depends how mothers treat that gift.
thank you dear Susan for sharing!
Blessings and a hearty hug!

Of course I can relate to this poem! I am a mommy with mom chores as well! And I too run a 24/7 emergency line! I think as most good mothers do! I loved the topic and found this poem to be a sweet short testament to all of the mom's out there! Great job!

You captured it all, my friend. Motherhood is rather taken so much for granted, yet it is our biggest treasure house of knowledge and our sanctuary when we feel insecure or threathrened. I particularly like the lines:

and 24/7 hotline
for emergencies.

I enjoyed this. My mother did as well. She totally agrees with your poem! I enjoyed how it flowed and the laid back way it was written. Really solid here.

I love the fact that you did not use any capitals in this. The sea of lowercase words makes me feel your weariness due to the many roles you play--doctor, nurse, teacher, referee, counselor, etc.--every day, every hour, every minute of your day. Excellent work.

Mothers. Where would the world be without them? Rare is the man who does not love his mother. Even some of the world's worst human monsters loved their mother. Often the mother was the saving force and influence in getting that menace to surrender. No doubt about it, mothers are the guiding force and savior of our world.
