Good luck with your contest entry; this time of year doesn't help with the loss of loved ones. Your three lines expresses the deep love you feel for your father. His blood runs in your veins and when you look in the mirror you see him in yourself. XXK.

This moving, sincere piece makes effective use of every syllable
to convey an age-old theme: Long after our parents are gone,
we still "have" them through memories.

Hello DD,
A beautiful tribute poem to your father
Few people have the influence upon us
that our parents or grandparents have
You've expressed it very well in this wonderful poem
Good luck in the contest

Thank you Robert. I appreciate your thoughtful comments on my short poem. I loved my father very much. This short poem hardly begins to express my love but less is more in this case. ~DD

-Very nice image, DD.
-The syllable count is good,
and the use of one
continuous thought is effective.
-I like the use of 'imprint' on
your 'heart and soul.'
-A very nice tribute to your dad.
-Thanks for sharing, and
good luck in the contest.

Love your tribute to your father. He sounds like such a wonderful man. You are blessed to have such a father. Many of us struggle with the legacy of fathers who were too broken to show fatherly love well.

Thank you Helen for your kind review on my short poem. This coming Boxing Day will be 12 months since his passing. The void is still very much there but my adolescent children make sure they fill party of it with their demands. ~DD

A lovely way of expressing love. I often think that these severely restricted syllabic poems are actually trainig exercises for future work. They do exercise one in the art of verbal economy. The secret is to be able to lift that skill and use it in longer poems.

Thank you Pantygynt for your thoughtful review on my short poem. To be honest, you may have noticed that I haven't written many pieces that go beyond three lines this year. This Boxing Day marks the 12 months since my dad's passing and I have not been able to write much since then he left. By keeping the fuel for poetry in some kind of flow I have been inclined to just write the 'short stuff'. I sure hope I will gain some kind of skill in doing so to use it in longer poems, as you say. ~DD

They do say that in your situation the first year is the worst so here is hoping you will find next year easier, though I fear Christmas will tend to be sad time in future. I hope you find you time with the short stuff will be beneficial.

A wonderful three-line poem in memory of your dad. Little girls (boys, too) look up to and need a dad who does leave an imprint on their heart. Let's us know that there ARE good guys out there. Much luck in the contest with this fine entry. Marilyn

What a lovely sentiment to share for the 3 Line prompt contest. I would mention, DD, that the font is very small and it is hard on the eyes. Perhaps, if you enlarged the font, it might be easier read. All the best,
Melissa
