Wow! It's so good that Jim has you! Considering how awful that wrist break was, God really provided for you - the owner's pickup truck and your ingenious idea of using umbrella covers to protect casts in the shower! You're so creative!!

Thank you so much Helen, I am so glad you enjoyed it, I guess the nurse part of me instantly took over and remained calm.

What would an adventure be without some bad luck along the way. But also the good fortune of escaping the tornado.
Your husband sounds stubborn. Serve him right to wear a pink cast. Nice of the owners to offer their truck.

Thank You Alie. New Orleans is a place I always wanted to visit with its French and Spanish culture. The statues you mention that were dismantled--were they from the civil war? If they were it's to bad people like to destroy history. To bad about Jim's I know it hurts. Broke mine bowling too much wax on the floor. I used plastic grocery bags. Thank you for showing me a little of New Orleans.

Thank you Jose for reading, reviewing and your great comments. I think some of the statues were from the civil war but others were of important contributors to the area and culture, like Joan of Arc. Wow bowling, I would never have thought of that, yikes. Hey grocery bags worked great. Glad you enjoyed New Orleans.

Well -- a very interesting read about my old stomping grounds...most of my family still lives in the New Orleans area so, it was great to read! :) ;) Thanx for sharing your and Jim's adventures...never a dull moment, right? :) ;) Yvette
P.S. I used a bread bag to cover the boys' casts.. :) ;) We moms/wives improvise however we can! :) ;) Take care!

Thank you for reading, reviewing and your great comments. Bread bags, what a neat idea for little arms or legs. I agree we do improvise a lot.

Hi Sweetness, you are really good at this, that's why I enjoy this tour-guide so much. What exciting places you visit, in Jim's job, Alie. As I said one other time we don't have gas Inspectors here, so it is interesting from that angle as well as the danger to life and limb, no pun intended. Love U Anne.

Now you have a shiny one to make an earring/necklace from. If we keep this admirable society thingy going, we could start a new craze. LOL

Hi, my friend. This was a very interesting segment, Alie. I stopped in New Orleans once when I was in the marines circa 1957. Wow1 long time ago, eh? I stayed overnight, got drunk and then got rolled by a floozie in one of the bars in the Latin Quarter,( I think.) LOL

Sounds like you had a much better time than I did. Bless you, keep reporting in. Wonderful writing. Bob

Thank you so much Bob for reading, reviewing and your kind comments. Wow, now that was an adventure for you, lol I had to chuckle because I haven't heard the word 'floozie' in ages. Blessed be.

You get the idea though, right? I was just 17 and fresh out of boot camp in So. Carolina. :) Bob

This is very interesting, Aryr. I have always found you a bit of a mystery and I have enjoyed reading about your life.
The best part, in my opinion, is the last bit (about the umbrella bags).
I think there's a typo:
It meant that Jim had to drive forty-five minutes to work then home each day. (there should be a comma after work).
Thanks for sharing.

You won't forget that trip in a hurry. That sounds like a Colles fracture if my first aider's memory serves me well. Very common with falls I believe. The umbrella bag story took me back to 2014 when I ruptured my Achilles tendon and was in plaster for two months. I never managed a shower during that time but a garbage bag ove my leg kept the splashes of the plaster when I took a bath.

Thank you so much Jim for reading, reviewing and your great comments. I am not sure if I would attempt a shower with a leg cast, but then I would not have attempted a tub bath. With my luck I would be stuck in the tub, so a shower would be the choice or bird baths lol.
reply by Pantygynt on 08-Nov-2018
I used to hook my leg over the side of the tub.

What an enjoyable work, with great tips, remedies for emergent broken bones, and how to handle broken arms with ten gears to handle in a rig. New Orleans must be fascinating even if it has been devestated by Katrina, well done, blessings. Roy
